[edit] History

Prior to 1949 the area of Little Hulton used to be a village of around 3,000 people.[citation needed] The land was purchased by Salford City Council to house the people left homeless by the clearing of the slums in the centre of Salford. All the names of the streets in Little Hulton mimic the names in Salford.[citation needed] This was designed to make the people moving to Little Hulton feel more at home, and is confirmable within modern A-Z Street Atlases. It was in 1949 the first house in Little Hulton was official opened.[citation needed]

This information given above is incorrect. seeing that most of the houses which are situated on Cleggs Lane in Little Hulton were open around the 1890's or even earlier and also the Mount Skip estate has houses which were built in the early 1930's mostly for the miners.

[edit] Local Government

Historically a part of Lancashire, until the 19th century, Little Hulton was a township in the Parish of Deane, in Lancashire.[1] In 1837 Little Hulton joined with other townships (or civil parishes) in the area to form the Bolton Poor Law Union which took joint responsibility for the administration and funding of the Poor Law in that area.[3] In 1872 a Local Board of Health was established for the township,[1] and in 1894 Little Hulton Urban District was created, however, it was abolished in 1933 and merged as a part of Worsley Urban District.[4] Since 1974 Little Hulton has been an electoral ward of the City of Salford.
