"Lit Up" was the first single release from Buckcherry, and was also the first single from their self-titled album. It is about cocaine addiction. The song reached the #1 spot in mid-1999 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks for three weeks and #33 on the Modern Rock Tracks. Although it landed at #1 on the Mainstream rock chart, it failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's opening riff is the same as the Kiss song, "Shock Me".
