This is a recording of the song "Little Maid of Arcadee" - words by W.S. Gilbert (18 November 183629 May 1911) and music by Arthur Sullivan (May 13, 1842November 22, 1900). The song was written For Gilbert and Sullivan's first comic opera, Thespis (1871). Published in 1872, this is one of the two surviving songs, not counting the show's ballet music, though the original orchestration for the song is lost.Musical score

This file of the song was privately recorded specifically for Wikipedia at the home of the singer, with no audience, on January 20, 2008, and released into the public domain. The accompaniment is a piano MIDI file prepared by User:Adam Cuerden.
