The Southern Literary Messenger Building in Richmond, Virginia -- Edgar Poe's place of employment from December 1836 to 1837. The back building adjoining was occupied by Allan & Ellis, tobacconists, the firm in which Poe's foster-father was senior partner. This image shows the building in 1902, converted into watch shop.
