Talk:List of text-based computer games
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think this list should be expanded to include modern browser-based and downloaded text games. They are not a piece of gaming history. There are still many being created - preferred by developers because they aren't hard to build. I suggest PC be split up into:
Only Text
Internet
Misc.
...
I agree that a better sorting system would be optimal -- some way to separate the roguelikes, Kroz-alikes and works of interactive fiction, for instance. That said, I don't understand your proposed categories. It's true that right now MUDs, BBS Doors and PBM games are uneasily lumped in with stand-alone offline programs -- I could see distinctions made between online (where your browser-based games, and things like Urban Dead would go) and offline games. But what goes in Misc.? And by "Only Text", are you suggesting that the other categories include text-and-graphics games? (a stiff proposition, since that description covers nearly every game ever made.)
Unrelatedly, I think it's about time to un-link the years. Pseudo Intellectual 23:37, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
