[edit] Why are so few listed?

Resolved.

I mean, surley there must be more comedy series without laugh tracks. For example, animated comedy like Family Guy or South Park, they surley have no laugh tracks. TheBlazikenMaster 14:29, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Animated shows are specifically excluded, otherwise almost every animation would be on the list. Interplanet Janet 13:03, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Shouldn't we at least mention in the article that animated series are not included? TheBlazikenMaster 14:30, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Nevermind, I didn't see it, my mistake. I apologise for ignorance. TheBlazikenMaster 00:22, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] All in the Family, Sanford & Son, and other shows "taped in front of a live studio audience"

I know that these shows and others listed here don't have true canned laughter, but I always thought it still counted as a laugh track. Even if they arent adding laughter to the soundtrack, the soundtrack still includes laughter. 14:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I think that's right - a "laugh track" just means whether there is laughter on the soundtrack, whether it comes from a live audience (e.g. Cheers), an audience recorded in post-production (e.g. Black Adder series 1) or canned laughter (e.g. The Flintstones). So it sounds like All in the Family should be removed. I haven't done so myself as I've never seen it. Interplanet Janet 21:16, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Da Ali G Show?

Wouldn't the HBO original series "Da Ali G" show be considered a show without a laugh track? I know in Da Ali G Show (UK) he would do some "monologue like" or sketches in front of a live studio audience which many people or viewers (including myself) consider a live audience to be somewhat of a laugh track but he did not do this on the American/HBO version of Da Ali G Show? So i was just curious if it would fall into the category or not?

[edit] M*A*S*H

While it had laugh tracks, it never had one in the operating room, even when jokes were made. Also, the DVD's give viewers the option of turning off the laugh track. Should this be mentioned? LessThanClippers 01:41, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Also M*A*S*H experimented with entire shows that had no laugh track - in an era when this was practically unheard of. This list is totally pointless unless it is ordered by date, since early adopters, like M*A*S*H, were exceptional, and nowadays laugh tracks are anachronisms that have almost had their day. A simple list of modern laugh free shows that contains the half percent of shows that some thirteen-year-old has thought to include is no use to anyone. 131.172.4.44 (talk) 10:39, 27 May 2008 (UTC)snaxalotl
