Talk:List of speed metal bands
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Holy crap, where do I even start? -Children of Bodom are a black metal band, NOT speed metal.
-Helloween are power metal, NOT speed metal.
-And where the fuck is Pantera?
- Children of Bodom is about as black metal as Linkin Park. Have you ever heard black metal music? As for Helloween, their first 2 releases (Helloween EP and Walls of Jericho) were speed not power and this why they are part of the list. Pantera is groove/half-thrash. I suggest you learn something about the metal subgenres. Pasajero 18:12, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Children of Bodom is Extreme Power Metal. Stratovarius are indeed speedy, but they're Power Metal.
Plus, I agree with the part, you should learn a bit more about the metal subgenres. Children of Bodom is nowhere near BM. I also added Venom, "Black Metal" (the album) is clearly a Speed metal record with "Black Metal" lyrics. (to say, darker lyrics). Speed Metal is an abstract name, it should be used with caution. I don't think Children of Bodom are a Speed metal band too, so i removed them. --Darksteel 10:56, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
I added W.A.S.P. and Twisted Sister due to their early stuff being Speed Metal with a Glam look, specifically Twisted Sister's "Under the Blade" album and W.A.S.P.'s debut album. Also, Queensryche's early stuff is Speed Metal, specifically their 1983 EP and added Savatage as well because they were Speed Metal until "Hall of the Mountain King."
Added Lamb of God.

[edit] What about DragonForce?
Should DragonForce be considered speed metal? --Zouavman Le Zouave 19:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
No, Dragonforce is a Power Metal band. They may play very fast, but that does not make them "Speed Metal" as they lack many of its defining characteristics.--71.167.162.74 03:26, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please explain because if DF doesn't qualify as speed metal I don't know who does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.101.156.35 (talk) 00:56, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mistakes?
Look, it is stated that only early Motorhead are a speed metal band. But if so, then what is their style now? Listen to their albums from 90's and 2000's and see, they are speed metal (and sometimes even thrash-like speed metal). Fixed it.
[edit] Iron Maiden
Shouldn't Iron Maiden be on this list? I always considered Iron Maiden and Killers to be their speed metal releases. What do you people think? Weltanschaunng (talk) 07:54, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- It has been debated that they are in fact speed metal at all on the Iron Maiden talk page (or was that Judas? or the mainspace?). I think the result of some edits on the main page were just reverted and disclosed or was that on Judas Priest? I forget because I recall similar things happening with both of them. - Well my POV is that those albums are speed, atleast some songs are. They are markedly different from the rest of their albums, and even we see some attempts later by Bruce at speed (Aces High).

[edit] Copy this code to add albums
Since I noticed that albums are being integrated here, I thought it would be helpful if I copy the format from the Thrash discussion page.

[edit] Kreator
Kreator are not speed metal, they are thrash. There is a difference. Nick227 (talk) 19:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
