[edit] Comment

At separate listing has been set up at List of registered political parties in Spain by geographic location. I encourage modifications of the list, but don't break up the table. --Soman 07:59, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry for that, though it appears the newly formatted list needs some minor edits. If there's no way of cutting the length of the page while maintaining the table, is it worth still tagging it for cleanup for being too long? - Mystikchick17

[edit] ELAC notice

Hi, with aims to improve Wikipedia, your page has been submitted to the Extra-Long Article Committee for page division. It is strongly suggested that the regular users here divide the article up into separate pages. If this does not occur in the coming weeks, this page will then be scheduled for committee involvement. Please comment at ELAC talk with concerns. Thanks: --Sadi Carnot 16:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Solving the length issue

I suggest that the article should be split into three groups. Below are details of the potential timespans for each of the new articles.

  • 1976-1986
  • 1987-1995
  • 1996-2000

Please feel free to change the article time boundaries as they may not be as precise as possible.

If the potential is there then it would be ideal to group the years into groups which are reflective of an aspect like the poltical party in power in Spain at that time for example.

Good idea; I removed the ELAC tag (per break reasons); see: List of states in the Holy Roman Empire for a good break-up model. --Sadi Carnot 14:38, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

This list is so long as to be virtually useless! It is certainly so long that even minor cleanup (I have just had to do two disambiguations) is very difficult. This is probably why nobody has bothered to update it beyond 2002, even though the Ministerio del Interior list was last updated on 2007-04-03 to include the twenty-one (!) parties which were registered on 2007-03-29. Wikipedia is NOT an indiscriminate collection of information.

The lead section admits that most of the groups mentioned in the list would fail Wikipedia:Notability (see also Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) for more specific guidelines which apply to political parties): that is to say that most of the red links on the list will never be turned blue. If a political grouping—let's take Ciudadanos Unidos de Benitachell, registered 2002-09-25 at an address in Benitachell (Alicante), as an example—is not going to have a Wikipedia article, then there is no benefit in duplicating the information which is already available from the Ministerio del Interior. Worse, the mass of such non-notable grouplets hides the entries for notable parties, of which there are already a fair number in Spain.

Can anybody give me a reason not to send this to AfD? I can't see much of any use which can be salvaged here. Physchim62 (talk) 02:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I'll do the dirty work and send it to Afd. Mbisanz (talk) 23:43, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Length

Concensus at AFD was to keep the article but it really needs to be split up into several articles as it is too long at the moment (removing the AFD tag was very slow). Davewild 18:57, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I created List of registered political parties in Spain (1976–1984) and List of registered political parties in Spain (1985–1993), then linked to those pages here.--Crzycheetah 22:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
