Talk:List of political parties in Portugal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Partido Popular
In the article, it is mentioned that the CDS-PP was the only party to vote against the Constitution of 1976. However, being that this situation is not correctly explained, the article ends up being extremely biased against that party.
The fact is that the CDS-PP vetoed the Constitution of 1976 for it being explicitly socialistic and instauring the army as one of the main decision bodies of the State, something that not only did not happen in any other European democracy but was also a characteristic of a military dictatorship.
I believe that we should either remove that mention or explain the situation better. --MiguelFC 14:47, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Just a query: I see you reverted someone's edit, removing the word "fascist", so that the text now reads, "parties are forbidden" or something like that. Does that make sense? The original makes sense - it would make sense for a constitution to forbid a fascist party. But the way you've written it makes it appear that political parties in general are unconstitutional. I linked to the first edit of the user that I reverted without reading his correction, that edit removed the word fascist, but because he later replaced the word "fascist", my revert was stupid, it was something like an edit war due to my lack of attention. [edit] Partido Democrático do Atlântico
I have no idea where the author of the article got his information from, but the PDA is certainly not an extreme right party. Although its independentist and autonomous ideals might seem extremist at the eyes of the common Portuguese, it usually stands with the Partido Socialista in most decisions. Its leaders have even been accused recentely of being nothing more than mere puppets at the hands of the PS administration. It supported Manuel Alegre in the recent elections for the presidency. --MiguelFC 23:29, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Although I wrote much of the article, I didn't wrote that. I don't know much of PDA, so, be bold, change it! Cheers! Afonso Silva 15:38, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
