[edit] Famous Or Not? Who Picks?

71.85.241.27 has been making a lot of deletions that were added by a variety of other people. This user says he or she was born in St. Louis, but that isn't a decent qualification to make these determinations. Put a person up for discussion if you don't think they are famous. Do a little research and determine just how widespread knowledge of them is. Famous doesn't mean they'll be recognized on the street anywhere in the world, but that a society or culture has recognized them for some reason. 71.85.241.27 allowed scientists to remain on the list while deleting people who are in the pop culture scene. Give some reasons other than a single person's opinion before deleting a person.

71.85.241.27 the IP address also resolves to an Australian provider. Maybe this user is just on a short vacation from St. Louis or maybe he or she has been gone for a decade and doesn't really know who is famous and who is not.

[edit] Request for Comment

A page similar to this one. List of people from San Francisco, is currently under review as an article for deletion, for reasons which would apply to this article as well. I am conducting an RfC on the talk page of the above-mentioned list to determine whether the concensus agrees on keeping such lists or not. Any and all comments are more than welcome. [edit] RFC

Screw those fancy pants West Coasters, we St. Louisans can handle our own. Besides, people from St. Louis are, by default, better than everyone else. It's unimaginable that any source claiming to be a repository of knowledge wouldn't strive to keep a list of people born in the City of Gods. Of course a record should be kept. Future generations must be told that Gods did once walk among mortals, and if their lives are miserable wastes they need only seek out the City of St. Louis where they will be welcomed and cared for by those same Living Gods.

The only problem I see is that this list should contain a reference to every person ever born in St. Louis instead of only those who we choose to share with the rest of the world. We're a generous people, when we feel that a particular person could enhance the lives and happiness of others just by being around them we let that person leave the city and make the lives of you lesser folk a little bit nicer. That doesn't mean we all aren't awesome and more than worthy of your praise, just the opposite. We are.
