[edit] Historical?

Possibly defunct newspapers as well? or currently living ones only? SatuSuro 13:25, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Historical ones too. Some merged into others (which would be nice to note). Also, if people know of dates--that would be super duper. Imagine it: The Java Daily Cup (1944-1956), Medan Mirror (1974- ), Bali High Times (1935-1938; merged with The Ruteng Reefer, 1938)... etc. etc. etc. It's a bit of a task, but I if we started to add dates, it would come along slowly. Its one thing to suggest them - the articles should come first - then they get listed in the list - better that way than having red links to which no one gets to write the articles about them :/ SatuSuro 14:05, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
I think it's good to list them all. I agree about the red links. I don't like them unless there's a crying need & likelihood of an article (e.g. Petition of Fifty. But I think it would be good to keep the whole list, even if no one is ever going to come along and build articles for 80% of them. It's still worthy information, eh? Smilo Don 14:12, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Disagree - better to build from a list of blue links than do a complete list of variations of names unless it is comprehensive - partly constructed lists with some red links are a giveaway of really tacky work - I dont know if you have access to a list of indonesian newspapers - my suspicion if you include regional ones and colonial ones it would be in the hundreds - no thanks - not tonight :) SatuSuro 14:17, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Not this morning, either! ;) Yer right--the list would be ridiculously long. But WP is in its infancy. The list will grow. Eventually, it would be an incredibly useful resource to people. Setting the bar so high (a comprehensive list) means it'll never happen. I take the long view of WP and say, "If you build it the information will come." Might take 25 years, but WP can wait. Have a nice sleep, Satu. Wuz procrastinating: I need some coffee and have to do some tax work. --Smilo Don 14:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
