Talk:List of municipalities of the Flemish Region
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think the municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region should be removed from this list. This list is about the municipalities in the Flemish Region, of which the Brussels-Capital Region is not a part. There are, however, members of the Flemish Community who live in the Brussels-Capital Region, but I don't think that should affect this article, especially as they're not included in the article about the Walloon Region despite the large number of members of the French Community living in the municipalities of Brussels. --Ganchelkas 14:28, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, this list is about the Flemish region, not about the Flemish community. Markussep 15:22, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Is it OK for me to add the names of the municipalities in other languages (if any) in parentheses?--Ganchelkas 10:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

- I think we shouldn't add too much information to the list. Alternative names are also given in French exonyms#Belgium, List of Dutch exonyms for places in Belgium and List of German exonyms for places in Belgium. Markussep 13:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

List of municipalities of the Flemish Region → List of municipalities in Flanders
Following the talk on Talk:List of municipalities in Wallonia and based on the same naming conventions. Stephane.dohet (talk) 15:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- You are inventing naming conventions. Oppose, of course. Flanders and Flemish Region are two different things. Municipalities are by constitution submitted to the Flemish Region, so the only conceptual territory that is relevant to municipalities is the Region. "Municipalities in Flanders" means nothing.
- Let us just take one illustration how incorrect your POV is: Flanders can mean the Flemish Community, which includes to a certain extent the Brussels-Capital Region. But of course, municipalities of the Flemish Region do not include municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region.
- Refering to a vague concept such as Flanders to describe a very precise administrative concept is pointless. Bradipus (talk) 17:40, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- This request is not based on any convention… Perhaps policies and guidelines are not clear or do not exist on WP:FR but here that behaviour of yours is directly against them. And you should be more respectful of those policies. So, this request is irrelevant. David Descamps (talk)
- There is no valid reason to follow this request. The word Flanders might have several meanings and is not the one to use when writting an article that deals with institutional matters that are regulated by the Belgian Constitutions and laws. On needs to stick to the official name in order to keep this understandable for readers who are not necessarily aware of the Belgian subtilities. --Lebob-BE (talk) 12:27, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
