Talk:List of moths of India (Noctuidae)/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Start point:

Moths listed in Kendrick (2002 [2003]) now incorporated. Listing follows Kitching & Rawlins (1999)

[edit] To Do:

  • "Catocalinae", which needs working on to get it up to date, based on Holloway's (2005) - Moths of Borneo.
  • All the Hampson listed species need checking against LepIndex and posting (this is a long job - probably in excess of 700 species)
  • May need to reiterate to the general user that Noctuoid taxonomy is being revamped at the moment with DNA information. The only problem is the scale of the task, as no published DNA phylogenetic analysis has really covered all the major lineages with sufficient taxa. Maybe a link to Noctuidae#systematics is in order (or see also)?
  • Placement of subfamilies in approximate phylogenetic order
  • Consider tribal level headings
  • Inclusion of genus level headings
