Talk:List of mnemonic verses

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I once read a humorous piece about a fellow who could not remember when Columbus "discovered" America (NB: Dick Gregory pointed out that it was an inhabited place - perhaps not to be "discovered").

Anyway, this poor chap got confused by 2 versions:

"In fourteen hundred and ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue."

and

"In fourteen hundred and ninety three, Columbus sailed the deep blue sea." Carrionluggage 07:09, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Zodiac

Another, briefer, version of the Zodiac in English:

The ramble twins crab liverish
Scaly scorpions are good water fish

Perhaps it needs a bit of interpretation!

Ram - ble = ram, bull: Li - ver [-ish] = lion, virgin: Are = archer: Good = goat: Water = water-carrier

Ok, so it doesn't make any sense, but it's worked for me for 35 years! King Hildebrand 11:02, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] hash-refs inside this page?

I think this page would benefit from #subref links, so you can pass the specific mnemonic you want to somebody, not just a pointer to the page.
