[edit] Removed the Irish Front
The Irish Front is not mathcore or math- anything due to the fact that very little thought or effort (or difficulty for that matter) is put into writing or performing any of their music. This is not personal opinion, but rather, the fruits of a brief conversation with band members. I was told the band was actually started as a joke.
[edit] Added August Burns Red
They are classified as technical metalcore in their wikipedia article, as well as at http://music.mediaswim.com/rock-pop/august-burns-red.
[edit] Removed Meshuggah
Removed Meshugah, they are just technical metal or Mathmetal... they do not have their roots in hardcore, and their sound isn't realted to hardcore eithier, so they are not a mathcore band.
I don't like this list. I wouldn't consider half of the bands on that list to be real "mathcore". It takes frequent complex time sigs and time sig changes to really be mathcore. Using 4/4, 6/8, AND 3/4, sometimes in the same song (ZOMG) doesn't really make mathcore to me. Also, why isn't there a "list of mathmetal bands" or even a math metal page while a "mathcore" page exists?
This page should be changed to include all math metal/mathcore bands, so it is not just restricted to bands influenced by hardcore, even though already most bands on this list are influenced by metalcore bands. So to stop any more confusion, this article should be open to all mathcore, mathmetal, mathgrind, noisemath,or any other genre that uses mathimatic time singnatures.

MATHCORE AND MATHMETAL ARE TOO DIFFERENT THINGS. Meshuggah are metal not hardcore...
[edit] Removed Norma Jean
I Removed Norma Jean because the aren't so much mathcore as southern metal/chaotic
But from your statement, they are still conisdered mathcore. So I have added them back until someone has a actual reason why they are not mathcore.

Norma Jean really are no more Mathcore than any other of these bands... So why bother deleting just them? Days will chase 01:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Does Norma even change time stamps? Looking at tabs it doesn't look like it. -- 71.34.54.22 12:36, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand why people remove Norma Jean anymore, it feels like nobody who are against it has even listened to O'God The Aftermath or even Bless The Martyr and Kiss The Child at the least. They are mathcore, they seem to fill up the criteria in the main page. AKnot 20:39, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removed Mudvayne
Mudvayne isn't mathcore, it's nu-metal. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.207.120.210 (talk) 10:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC).

- Mudvayne is less nu-metal than it is mathcore. However, I wont re-add them to the list because they aren't -core, they are -metal. There is a difference between math-metal and mathcore. Aristeaus 08:10, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- The fact remains that Mudvayne is nu metal. There is nothing math about them. Complex bass lines does not make a math band. Also, as you said they are not related to the "core" genres at all. Take the thought of them being on this list far, far away. -ARandomHeretic 16:13, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Citations or bust
Almost none of the bands on this page are, or were, known as mathcore bands. Mudvayne? Converge? Meshuggah? Apparently, not only do half of these bands not fall under the mathcore category, half of them don't play with a hardcore sound.
From this point forward, every new item added to the list should have a citation to go with it. If not, it will be deleted. As for the current articles, citations should be sought after rigorously.
Suggestions?

[edit] Merge
I just created a list of metalcore bands article, and this one is sort of redundant w/ that article. So I say we merge the two articles, taking the bands from this page and adding them to the list of metalcore bands page. Prepare to be Mezmerized! :D 02:47, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Disagree Mathcore and metalcore are two different things. -ARandomHeretic 02:37, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] A Life Once Lost
removed this band, no sources list as being math.Lokri (talk) 19:36, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
