I don't recall seeing anything about any African-American mayors elected during Reconstruction, which probably reflected the rural nature of the south (few cities), and most of the African American population in the South was then in rural areas. Don't know much about municipal gov'ts then.--Parkwells (talk) 20:25, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
