What is the difference between a critics award and an industry award ? What if the critics are professionals working in the industry ? Jay 13:50, 15 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I can't think of any practicing film critics who are also making movies on a professional level. Industry awards are voted on by people working in some aspect of film production -- actors, producers, best boys, whatever -- while critics awards are voted on by film critics and reviewers.
Can you think of an example of crossover? Scarequotes 17:24, Feb 16, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Audience Awards

What about awards decided by the audience ? In which category does it come ? They are neither critic, industry or festival awards. Filmfare awards are decided by the readers of the Filmfare magazine. Jay 15:15, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Against my better judgment, I added the Audience Award section. There are 2 awards listed in this discussion that just don't fit into any of the existing subheadings but clearly fall under this list. I'm not totally happy with this solution for 2 reasons:
  • There are already too many subcategories listed here.
  • Audience Awards can open up the door to adding whatever dopey reality shows vote on pop culture and lame blogs no one reads being added here. User:DirectRevelation 09:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Messy

This "article"/list seems a little bare or messy. I think the main headings could be merged critics/industry etc. It should just be listed by country. Peter 10:42, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

On the other hand, industry awards do not focus on the same criteria as film festival and critics awards are rather more "serious" on the art side. Why should we merge them? Hoverfish 12:48, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
It would be nice to see a bit of a revamp of this page to make all awards and ceremony pages consistent. There's a lot of work that could be done here. Peter 03:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
I generally agree with Hoverfish about listing everything by country. I would just make one exception for Film Festivals as they tend to reveiw films from multiple countries, even if they are located in France or the United States. I did clean up US Industry a little, but maybe someone with more skill than me can improve the formatting throughout or add a map or something. User:DirectRevelation 09:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] National Movie Awards U.K.

Can we have National Movie Awards U.K. in the list? The awards will be presented for the first time in the UK. PS —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.119.76 (talk) 05:17, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Sure you can, this is wikipedia. I just did it for you under the new Audience heading near the end. I actually put it under ITV and then listed the award to follow the formatting when the issuer and the name of the award are different.User:DirectRevelation 09:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
