I am removing Cheers, because that was a real bar. Only the inside of it was fictional, the adress, the sign and the name are real. http://www.cheersboston.com/index_bh.htm

The location is real, but the bar was originally called the Bull & Finch, and the sign came from the show. I think that's enough to make Cheers fictional. Daibhid C 15:47, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Uh, I work at a Buy 'n' Fly. Maybe that warrants removal? Or did the author think he was inventing it, in which case, do we leave it? Do we leave it and add a qualifier? What's the story here? Greyscale 08:07, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Admittedly, this is over a year late, but it seems to me that if there is a non-fictional store with that name, then it's not fictional, whether the author was copying the reality intentionally or not. 12.22.250.4 19:54, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Splitting off section

I think the bars & nightclubs section is big enough to justify its own list. Anyone agree? Daibhid C 18:44, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

In the absence of anyone disagreeing I'm going to be bold. Daibhid C 21:24, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
What happened to this idea? There are links within the article to "Fictional Bars" but it's a redlink. 12.22.250.4 19:48, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
I suspect it has been deleted as "listcruft". This is the peril of forking content. Parent articles do not get automatically alerted of AFDs, nor is any record stored. Someone may like to go back in the history (to around May 2006) and inspect if any of the information moved off is worth restoring. -Verdatum (talk) 08:10, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup (Copied from Talk:List of fictional companies)

This cannot be allowed to be an arbitrary listing of any and all fictional companies. Such a list is potentially infinite and thus, not beneficial. There must be some criteria for what does and does not belong in this list or it will eventually be deleted. I did a cleanup removing all companies that did not claim to have their own article and all redlinks that appeared unworthy of an article (which happened to be all of them). You're welcome to propose an alternative criteria, or argue the inclusion of specific exceptions to my criteria, but the point is, there needs to be something. -Verdatum (talk) 07:56, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
