Talk:List of fictional elephants

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So Ganesh, worshiped by people living today, is fictional? A building in Margate is fictional? Joseph Merrick is fictional? This was better left as one list of elephants, we don't need two lists, especially divided in such a way as to require a Point of View about whether a diety is fiction or non-fiction. -- Someone else 00:45 19 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Seeing as all the other animal lists are divided, and deities and creatures from mythologies are generally considered fictional, I simply went for consistency. A building itself is not fictional, but the animal it depicts is. Joseph Merrick was in the "See also" section, which usually carries only tangentially related topics; I've removed it from this page since I had also listed it on List of historical elephants. -- Timwi 00:56 19 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Perhaps this is a good reason to combine the "fictional" and "non-fictional" lists, rather than creating two extremely short lists to replace one more informative one. -- Someone else 01:09 19 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Perhaps we should wait for other people to voice their opinions? Might help us reach consensus. As I said, my only purpose of this was consistency with all the other animal lists (it seems odd to have elephants be an exception). Keep in mind that the lists will keep growing ;-) as are the "fictional birds" and "fictional dragons" lists I created yesterday. -- Timwi 01:19 19 Jun 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Elephants

Surely Nellie the Elephant is an elephant, not an elephant-like creature?

I wouldn't be surprised if the amount of fictional elephants on this list tripled in the next six months. Unigolyn 02:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC) That would be great! The more elephants, the better. Erudil 17:40, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
