Talk:List of communities in Saskatchewan

[edit] Northern Hamlet & Northern Village
Does there really need to be northern village and northern hamlet? If there has to be, than you should also have southern village and southern hamlet if you really want to make a distinction. It just makes sense after all. Mr. C.C. 15:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, there does need to be. The administration of villages and hamlets is regulated by the Municipalities Act, and the administration of northern villages and northern hamlets is regulated by the Northern Municipalities Act. What determines which Act governs those communities is where they are located; communities in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District are under the jurisdiction of the Northern Municipalities Act, while everything else is under the Municipalities Act. I've expanded the article a bit to mention this. Shanemcd (talk) 15:21, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unsourced statements in the Cities section
I marked a couple items in the Cities section as needing references: "in the early 20th century several centres such as Saskatoon and Regina were granted city status despite having a smaller population", and "Kindersley, with a population that fluctuates around the 5,000 mark, has applied for city status in recent years". Can anyone find a reference for these? I especially wonder about the Saskatoon and Regina references, as I'd suspect that the rules for a city may have been different back then. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Flag of Estevan.gif
Image:Flag of Estevan.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Ca-sk-sa.gif
The image Image:Ca-sk-sa.gif is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
