[edit] Title's vs. Characters

Currently all the spinoff's are generally listed from the main character to it's antecendents. I am questioning whether the titles should list, the title of origin rather. Examples being Action Comics vs. Superman. 66.109.248.114 18:15, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

No, Action Comics is not a comic, it is a comic book. The title of the comic is Superman. John Anderson (talk) 00:56, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] questions

"Engineered Spin-Offs" are spin-offs that introduce a character to one comic just so that that character can anchor a new series, an example being the Thunderbolts spinning out of The Hulk.

if this is true then X-Men (v.1) would be a separate comic book from Uncanny X-Men(starting with GS # 1) because the creators of the book flat out stated that Wolverine was created as a X-Men, but was 1st seen in the incredible Hulk book, that would make Uncanny a "Engineered Spin-Off" and as a person that owns all 495+ X-Men (v.1) and all 207 X-Men (v.2) books I can tell you this

Uncanny X-Men (v.1) & X-Men (v.2) -- are by Stan Lee and Marvel Comics called the FLAGSHIP TITLES FOR THE X UNIVERSE Wolverine, Cable, X-Factor, X-Force, New Mutants are all sub titles under the two flagship books

New X-Men (v.1) aka X-Men (v.2) was then split into two books --- New X-Men (v.2) and X-Men (v.2)

X-treme and Astonishing X-Men are called Core X Universe Books and not a spin off book now with the major changes to the X-verse and X-Men (v.2) becoming X-Men: Legacy or the search for Xavier's mind, it might only leave Uncanny as the FLAGSHIP TITLE.

what I'm trying to say is maybe some new terms should be created

1. FLAGSHIP TITLES: the keystone book that created a "universe" or introduced "a family tree" of like books

                 a. UNCANNY X-MEN/AKA: X-MEN (v.1)--- X-UNIVERSE
                 b. ACTION COMICS: --- SUPERMAN UNIVERSE
                 c. DETECTIVE COMICS: --- BATMAN UNIVERSE

2. CORE TITLES: the first tier of spin off books that is a "part 2" of the FLAGSHIP TITLES

                 a. X-MEN (v.2) --- UNCANNY X-MEN
                 b. SUPERMAN: --- ACTION COMICS
                 c. BATMAN: --- DETECTIVE COMICS

3. LONG LASTING SPIN OFFS: spin off of the CORE or FLAGSHIP BOOKS, that becomes a series lasting longer then a year

                 a. WOLVERINE: --- X-MEN
                 b. MAN OF STEAL: -- SUPERMAN
                 c. ROBIN: --- BATMAN

4. SPIN OFFS (LIMITED)/ONE-SHOTS: spin off of the CORE or FLAGSHIP BOOKS, that lasts a finite time

                 a. STORM: --- X-MEN
                 b. SUPERMAN/DOOMSDAY: -- SUPERMAN

5. UNIQUE: company cross - overs, shared heroes, alternate tales

                 a. AMALGAM COMICS: a Marvel/DC joint "spin-off"
                 b. THE DC COMICS FROM THE "GOLDEN AGE" -- aka: Superman earth 2, ect —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.196.208.215 (talk) 02:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vigilante and Titans

The Adrian Chase Vigilante was a spin-off from Teen Titans. He in turn had a spin-off in the Checkmate series (the Checkmate organization began as the Agency in Vigilante#36).
