[edit] English-speaking universities?

Is there a list available anywhere of all French universities that offer English-language classes? That is, for English-speaking students who wish to study in France. Thanks.

[edit] Reliable Source !

I was blacklisted by talk magic because I did not mentioned "reliable source" for Rober de Sorbon. In reality I included in my modification of Robert de Sorbon the Publication of the Journal Officiel de la République Française! (i.e. an official French publication). If it is not reliable source what is it? I put also the inclusion of Robert de Sorbon in a French serious reference

I doubt that an American, speaking probabnly barely French can overpass the French government and Local specialists.

Wikipedia should be fair and not following a biased agenda. Robert de Sorbon is even if you do not like it a french registered University authorized to grant degrees! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gerovital1 (talkcontribs) 14:32, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help needed with identification of French University

Can somebody please identify the school this guy went to (mentioned in the text of the page)?

I'm positive the spelling is incorrect, because it was translated from Persian into English.

Also, Im under the impression that the modern name of the university may be something else. Thanx.--Zereshk 05:55, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr Apokrif 23:34, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

ANSWER: It is a French Military University for Officers. The admission is very selective and is done after two years of preparatory courses (Cours de Préparation aux Grandes Ecoles) done in a Lycée after the Baccalauréat (H.S. National Examination). Those preparatory classes before exams are also very competitive and reserved to "Mention" at the Baccalaureat Holders (Honors Cum Laude minimum in the US system).

The best préparation to St. Cyr is done in the Lycée St. Louis. THIS RELIABLE INFORMATION IS GIVEN TO YOU BY THE ECOLE SUPERIEURE ROBERT DE SORBON. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gerovital1 (talkcontribs) 14:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] fr:Liste des universités françaises

I like the French language version better. I like how it breaks the Universities up by region. Maybe someone could change the English language version to be the same? --SJK 07:49, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Done. See List of public universities in France by academy. This is a separate page, though, because it lists only public universities, and not private universities or other institutes of higher education, such as the grandes ecoles. Note that this current page needs to be updated based upon that information. There are ninety-one public universities, and only seventy-five are currently listed here. [edit] Categorize "Grandes Ecoles" as vocational universities is completely wrong

A vocational school in the US is for professional formation. The closest to this in the French system would be the "BTS:Brevet de Technicien Superieur" or maybe "BEP:Brevet d'Etudes Professionelles". Grandes ecoles are an elitist system and the level of their students is higher than in French regular universities.

So I would list "Grandes Ecoles" as "Universities" to avoid confusing the non-expert reader. Actually, I would remove all of them and just put a link to the "Grandes Ecoles" article.

COMMENT FROM ROBERT DE SORBON; You are absolutely right and show the depth of ignorance (??) of the so called wikipedia expert in French higher education. As said before, generally you must have a Mention (honor) at ther Baccalauréat to enter a Classe préparatoire aux Grandes Ecoles. The excellent ones (Henri 4, St. Louis, Condorcet) generally ask for Bien or très bien mentions. President Chirac, Général De Gaulle, Premier Ministre Jospin, Segolène Royal went to those wrongly called vocational schools... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gerovital1 (talkcontribs) 14:44, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
