[edit] Small c?

Looking at the category: Category:Lists of fictional characters by series the naming convetion appears to be for a small 'c' for characters. If everyone is fine with that we can move it - it gets my vote. (Emperor 04:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC))

I meant to use a small "c" when I created the article but must have made a mistake. --Daniel J. Leivick 04:31, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
OK cool - do you want to do the honours? (Emperor 04:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Premature?

The decision on deletion doesn't seem to have yet been given. I don't object but it seems a little premature. (Emperor 04:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC))

It seemed like there was consensus to me, I will withdraw my AFDs.--Daniel J. Leivick 04:31, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
OK cool. I agree there was an evolving consensus but no one had called it. This seems like a reasonable outcome but I didn't want to go putting too much work in if someone was going to call it a different way and the deletion tags were still up on Bishop for example so.... [edit] Merge discussion per AfD

Per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Science Officer Ash, the articles Bishop (Alien) and Science Officer Ash need to be merged here and then redirected here. Please decide how best to do so, and then complete the merge and redirect. Thanks! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Amongst those suggesting the merge the consensus appears to be merge Ash but overwhelimingly in support of leaving Bishop where it is (due to his appearance in a number of films and the academic interest). A position that I think is the best solution given the discussion. (Emperor 22:08, 19 January 2007 (UTC))
It's been decided at AfD. Is there need for further discussion? I've already moved pertinent info from Science Officer Ash (still needs cleaning up though) and I think it can just be redirected here. - Zepheus <ツィフィアス>
I've updated the character sections for Alien and Aliens so those that have been merged point here. You may as well turn Ash into a redirect now. (Emperor 23:15, 19 January 2007 (UTC))
As this was decided in the AfD I'm also going to remove the Bishop redirects (the consensus amongst merge votes was to keep Bishop separate). If someone wants to merge it in again they can readd the tags but I think opinion was fairly clear. (Emperor 20:26, 4 February 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Images

Should we go for individual images for key characters or are there good cast photos for the different films? (Emperor 22:08, 19 January 2007 (UTC))

That'd be cool, but what really needs a picture is Hicks's article.Green Kirby 02:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Table?

I'd suggest a table is more appropriate for the film page (for example [1] [2]) linking the character name through to here with a longer description. Without the headers there is no way to link directly to the specific character making this page less useful. One could swap the information at e.g. here to this entry and turn that section into a table then flesh things out here. That'd be my preference. (Emperor 00:29, 20 January 2007 (UTC))

That sounds like a very good idea to me. Do you want to move it? I just thought I would be bold and see what people thought of a table. - Zepheus <ツィフィアス> 00:42, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I'll sort it out now as I'm around. (Emperor 01:11, 20 January 2007 (UTC))
All done (although looking at the other examples it should be actor then role on the film page as it is Cast while this is characters - I'll sort it out in a mo). It will be easy enough to convert the [Aliens (film)#Cast and characters|Aliens cast] into a table and Alien³ is already in table form so all that needs doing is linking through to the right sections here when they are created. That will make the first 3 films consistent with cast format. Alien: Resurrection doesn't have a cast list so once the first three are sorted out it'll be easy enough to sort out the cast and the sections here at the same time. (Emperor 01:45, 20 January 2007 (UTC))
OK changes to the Alien (film) entry got reverted. I'd still argue that if a table is going to be used it should be over there. I'm just not sure how to progress so I'll leave it for a bit and see what people think before making any big changes like that. (Emperor 02:43, 20 January 2007 (UTC))
Okay. That's also fine with me. Personally, I don't think it's terrible important that other pages link directly to the subsection for the character, such as List of characters in the Alien series#Ash. I think it's better to simply link to the movie's heading such as List of characters in the Alien series#Aliens. At this point, the subsections are so small, it's seems a little pointless. I'm not sure how much this page is expected to grow though. - Zepheus <ツィフィアス> 02:54, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I do think it is important to be able to link in here from other places (films, the actors, other places that discuss them, etc.), especialy as a lot of entries have been merged into this one, and the page as it stands is just an outline - there is quite a bit of information that can be integrated in here from them. I suppose the issue is that Wikipedia would rather avoid tables and lists when the information can be rendered in prose. (Emperor 03:07, 20 January 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Crowe

Crowe has one line in the movie. Wierzbowski is the only one who doesn't speak.

He screams.Green Kirby 02:38, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Morse

I've removed the sentence about Morse having a pact with God. I believe when Dillon made that remark, he was reminding Morse and the others that no one lives forever. Teflon Don (talk) 19:18, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] vasquez and drake

drake and vasquez did spend most of their lives together in juvenile prison. it's in the novelization. 72.148.113.246 (talk) 04:33, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Style

Many of these character descriptions are NPOV and lacking in style: for eg, certain adjectives have a subtle or generally more exclusive meaning and can be misleading. I've just done a quick edit on Lambert - I think some of the others could use the same input and would welcome any comments or suggestions. Plutonium27 (talk) 12:35, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
