[edit] Death of Rose

Re: The death date of Rose DeWitt Bukater (Calvert)

It is disputed whether or not she died that night on the Keldysh. The song suggests that she remains alive and dreaming, but James Cameron refuses to acknowledge whether she died or not. Personally, I think she survived (at least that night) because of the sequence at the end, when she kisses Jack on the Grand Staircase of the Titanic with the entire cast applauding. A dream, probably. Potato 93 22:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

James Cameron doesn't know the answer either, but I think she was dreaming as well. Look at it this way: all the people who dies on the Titanic looked EXACTLY how they were that night in the final sequence. But Rose, who obviously dies after reaching 100, appears as a young woman in the final sequence. If it was the afterlife, Leo DiCaprio would be kissing Gloria Stuart. I think James Cameron just put that last sequence in as a "What if....." situation (Jack and Rose marrying on the Titanic had it not sunk) to give the film a happier ending. I think, too, that if it were the afterlife, and Rose was young again because in the afterlife, we are again in our prime -- well, look at the passengers who greet her. They are still in their 30s and 40s and sometimes much older. So, it looks like only Rose gets to be young again in the afterlife. So I think it was a dream, too. Then it makes sense, because she WAS young the last time she saw all those people. 72.16.224.150 14:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Jack: Promise me that you'll die an old lady warm in her bed. The scene is called A PROMISE KEPT! ISN'T THAT ENOUGH? Superior1 18:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Jack: Promise me that you'll survive, no matter how cold, no matter how hopeless. Promise me you'll never let go. HE NEVER MADE HER PROMISE TO DIE AS AN OLD LADY!! THAT WAS NEVER PART OF THE PROMISE!!! WATCH THE STUPID MOVE FIRST, THEN MAKE A COMMENT!!!!!Jienum 11:00, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rose died...

I bought a copy of the script from the Branson Hollywood Wax Museum. It says, on the last page, that she dies in her bed and then "goes to Titanic where the souls of the lost congregate for some seemingly meaningful event."

  • Scan it and put upload it to Wikipedia then. Anyone would say anything to prove their theory that doesn't need proof. Place it in Rose's article as proof of her death. Jienum 20:05, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
  • The script says "She could be sleeping, or maybe something else." Superior1 02:50, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CHANGES: List of characters in Titanic (1997)

I have fixed numerous spelling, grammatical, and punctuational errors. I have also taken the liberty of filling in the deaths and aftermaths of several characters in more detail.

[edit] edits

I was heavy-editting the text. There is WAY too much information going on for Jack, Rose, and Cal. I suggest we put up two different articles for Titanic characters: main and minor. Main characters would be Rose (young and old), Jack, Cal, Ruth, Molly and Fabrizio. We do not need to describe every action done by the characters.

I did the edits, but made an error with the heading.

Also, no personal research. We do not know if Rose died at the end, it's unconfirmed. So please don't put "she probably died." If Ruth died in 1960, cite it. It's not in the movie. We do need a cleanup of this page, it looks awful and I can't do it all by myself.

There's way too much information under characters like Jack Dawson. Its like an entire plot summary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.168.110.89 (talk) 09:59, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Plan?

K, it's survived the AfD. Now what's the plan on making the article encyclopedic? Superior1 03:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, this article needs some real world information, and some independant sources. Looking at [one of the DVDs you can get at http://www.amazon.com/Titanic-Three-Disc-Collectors-Leonardo-DiCaprio/dp/B000ANVQ0K amazon], there are 3 audio commentaries, a historical look on titanic, and a behind the scenes, which would probably supply plenty of real worl information. It's not independant though, so we should get a bit of that, this book seems to be about the film, but independant, and you can search inside it at amazon. here are a bunch more titanic books, some of which are independant. The DVDs probably have plenty of info, and if we added refs from a few of the books, this page would be pretty much deletion proof. - Peregrine Fisher 03:51, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Well I redirected, the article is so unsalvageable that it's unbelieveable, and you guys had months to fix it, and it seems like the article got worse. Secret account 00:24, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

The redirect was undone, and more speculation was added, I really want to get consensus for the redirect, as this article is unsalvageable, and AFD isn't cleanup. Secret account 23:20, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

I don't feel that this article is unsalvageable. I just can't jump to fix it up at the moment, but I do indeed plan to fix it up. And I'll try not to take too long until I fix it up. I wish others had already fixed up this article by now, since this issue was addressed before...more than once. Flyer22 (talk) 00:10, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I might begin to fix up this article in a few weeks or before then. Might. Flyer22 (talk) 08:00, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] hmm

Was Lewis Bodine's shirt a reference to the graphic novel "Watchmen"?

I remember him having a smiley face on his shirt, similarly defaced with a spatter of red. I might be wrong though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.90.253.52 (talk) 06:09, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
