Talk:List of characters in Psychonauts

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Done - moved all the Characters info from the Psychonauts page to here. Now that its on its own page we can clean it up and expand with headings all over the place without over-complicating the Psychonauts article. I'll start doing that now. —EatMyShortz 15:31, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Headings for children

I've given all the characters in the other sections their own headings, which is far better for the volume of information being presented for those characters. However I've left the characters in the "Children at Whispering Rock" section as a simple list because a) there isn't enough information on each to warrant a full heading, and b) there are so many of them they would pollute the table of contents. What do you think? If others want each kid to have their own heading then so be it. —EatMyShortz 16:04, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Also the kids in that section don't seem to be in any kind of order. Do you think we should rearrange them to be in a) alphabetical order, or b) some vague order of importance (ie. Dogen, Bobby+Benny, that kid with the sailors hat who doesn't seem to be here at all right now, first, then the others in no particular order)??? —EatMyShortz 16:07, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm gonna add on "the kid with the sailor hat". Sorry if I'm trolling. -Alice

Yeah! Elton, that's his name! (Um... he went out with Milka? I totally missed most of the camp kids stories. Hehe I was too busy jumping into people's minds that I didn't explore the campsite until they all disappeared!) Looks good! —EatMyShortz 14:29, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

I think this is the best way to do it, great job, but I don't think each character should get his own heading since as you said it clutters up the table of contents. But spoiler warning should be put in like with the previous one since there are some spoilers. I think alphabetical order would be good. I'm about to go to bed but if its not if its not done by the same time tommorow I'll do it.--Karimi 19:16, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Just to make it clear I realize theres a spoiler warning but maybe we can have the basic info followed by more info ?

For example : GUY This guy is .... seems mysterious spoiler This guy is actually the evil villian end spoiler

Or would that be too messy ? --Karimi 19:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, you couldn't do that with the kids unless they had a proper heading. One of the problems with the old article as you can see here was that when they were a bulleted list, adding another paragraph screwed up the formatting. So if the kids are to remain bulleted they can only have 1 paragraph each, and no spoiler warnings. I'd say just put a spoiler warning at the top of the kids section. For other characters they can have individual spoiler warnings. —EatMyShortz 14:29, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

At the campfire area, "Bob Zanatto" was carved into the log. Not "Truman" -Alice

[edit] Fanfic

It would be nice if the SashaMilla pairing/fandom and SashaLili fandoms had seperate pages. First off, the SashaMilla couple is amazingly popular and an article on the dynamics of that relationship would be very helpful. Second of all, the SashaLili fandom is disturbing, and for those of us who don't want to read about that (but still respect it's existence) a seperate article would be a major stree reliever. OR, even better, there could just be a page for romantic pairings in Psychonauts, including the other children. In fact, come to think of it, that would be perfect. - Mara —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.79 (talkcontribs)

Wikipedia is not the place for fanfic. There are many other internet resources for that. See WP:V and WP:CRUFT for more. -- RevRagnarok Talk Contrib Reverts 14:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Um, I requested an ARTICLE on the multiple in-game relationships. Not a fnafic... No one said anything about fanfics. Multiple series (such as Danny Phantom, for example) have a section at the end of the characters' list for various pairings that fans have come up with. There are even whole seperate articles for some coupling, i.e. K/S etc. I just wanted to request something of that nature in the Psychonauts section. Perhaps you should try comprehensively rereading my request, as I could swear I didn't say anything about a fanfic or anything like that. Thank you very much for your time. - Mara

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Having an entire page for "pairings" of minor characters is ridiculous, especially if they're fanmade pairings. Raz's relationship with Lilli is the only romance that has the slightest bearing on the overall plot. Wikipedia is not here so you can share your ideas on which fictional characters should date which fictional characters. And by the way, even if you find it disturbing, your suggestion that we devote an article to the fan imagined romance of a grown man and a ten year old girl is disturbing on so many levels.--Agent Aquamarine 12:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

This isn't just a matter of pairings somebody likes. There are a few cannon pairings in the game that while are not a part of the main plot are part of the story. For instance, there's J.T. and Elka Doom, Nils and Elka, Elton and Milka, and possibly Bobby and Chloe. SpiderSlayer 08:54, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Head of a Dead Milkman?

An anonymous user added a comment to Boyd's biography about the head of a dead milkman being responsible for him losing his security job. It's been a while since I played Boyd's level, and my television is currently broken, but I don't recall hearing anything about this. Anyone mind checking it for me?--Agent Aquamarine 22:47, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps they were refering to the reel entitled "Boyd:Fired Again!". When Boyd is fired, his boss is holding his hat and badge in a wastebasket, which could be mistaken for a head. -Alice

[edit] Other character accuracy

Could someone explain to me how the character section's accuary is "disputed"? I'd like to fix it in any way I can. Otherwise, we should remove the tag. Theodorel 17:52, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Vernon: Closet Homosexual"? Moar lyk "i dun't beleev in kontinewity errorz", amirite?

The drawing that Vernon is writing his "memoir" on may look like a badly drawn Elton with lovey dovey hearts sprouting from it (and it is...I will admit) but that is a continuity error; Milka was the original artist of the Elton drawing, but Double Fine did not replace the drawing when he was rebrained.
You guys can ship that crack pairing all you want. I'm just disproving the fact. <3~Mashi —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.237.233.104 (talk) 04:19, 24 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Strange Coincidence...

A strange coincidence I noticed...If you bump into Bobby on the rail in the Basic Braining Level and he kicks you off, watch when the camera pans in on his laughing face. Bobby sports one red eye and one green eye- just like Doctor Loboto.

In fact, he even has the same long neck, gangly frame, and bluish skin. And don't they look eerily similiar when they loom over Dogen (Bobby- taunting him in the opening cinema, the Doctor- going to take out his brain)? It was never expanded upon, but I'm extremely suspicious that the two are related. Who knows- Loboto could be hiding a similar hairstyle under the shower cap, even... MsDevin92 13:41, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm guessing Doctor Loboto's eye colors are a result of them being mechanical. ZappyGun (talk) 14:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] D'Artag(n)an

I emailed the creators of the game and asked how the name of this particular cut character was really spelled, and got the reply: It's supposed to be D'Artagnan, and the name is merely misspelled on the concept art.

I am not familiar with Psychonauts (I was merely intrigued by why someone would aaalmost name a character after a musketeer) and don't know if there are any official references that would counter the spelling of the concept art (and therefore, I haven't touched the page entry). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.192.57 (talk) 11:37, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
