I think it makes more sense to make separate lists each of the 3 trilogies. Many characters would overlap, but many wouldn't. There could be a lot confusion especially yi tian tu long takes place so long after shen diao. Hanfresco 17:56, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I think the characters should not only be seperated into lists of each of the three novels, but also be classified under different categories, such as Quanzhen Sect, Beggars Sect etc.

There will be some problems classifying some characters who appeared in both novels of The Legend and The Return of the Condor Heroes. Do you want to classify a character who appeared in the 1st novel once under the first novel or do you want to classify them again? Notably the Five Greats, [[Guo Jing], Huang Rong, etc. Listing them under their sects etc will be too troublesome and readers can probably go to each character wiki page to find out more Xaiver0510 15:24, 27 June 2007 (UTC) realised that they are classified twice.... my oversight..
