Talk:List of career achievements by Wilt Chamberlain
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Start
Onamatopeia started this page as part of his project to improve the Wilt Chamberlain article. This is great I can't wait to see what he does with the article considering his work on Bill Russell. Quadzilla99 10:55, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Just for the record, essentially all of this content came from the Wilt Chamberlain article prior to Onomatopoeia's recent updates. Myasuda 12:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Records
I've begun the process of systematically adding Chamberlain's records to this article in a list format, somewhat more line with the format at Career achievements of Michael Jordan which I've recently cleaned up following some bad edits. I find the list format a bit easier to scan for information. I plan to add some annotating information back as I go (e.g., in some cases I'll provide the next entry on the list if it helps add context). Expect to see a few rough edges for a bit . . . I'll have it cleaned up shortly, however. Myasuda 04:34, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty much done with this round of edits. My edit activity on this article will proceed at a more reduced pace for the foreseeable future. If you have issues with the format, please bring it up here on this page. Myasuda 19:13, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Other selected rebound facts
Regarding Ogp's cite tag for the Hairston / Chamberlain factoid, it's certainly a legitimate request. Although it's a true statement, I (unfortunately) can't find an on-line link that supports it. I first encountered this somewhat surprising fact in an old Basketball Digest trivia quiz . . . but I've lost that particular issue many years ago. I have, however, tracked this particular stat in the years after that Basketball Digest issue came out and no other one-team tandem has matched it. Yeah, I am familiar with WP:NOR, but this type of tracking can be backed up by citing the Basketball Digest issue (if I could locate it) plus a brief consultation with [1] for the subsequent seasons (in which 1,000+ rebounders are relatively uncommon). In other words, to validate the statement only requires one to perform a handful of queries and cross-referencing -- well below the threshold of effort of what I would ordinarily construe as "research".
