[edit] a perfect list
WOW! this list has not got one single red link! i think this list should get reviewed by the admins and see what happens. what do you think?
[edit] Aliens
Forgot about this one. [1] [2] The graphics seemed pretty nifty for the time (1987) although looking at the screenshots now they don't seem up to much. I've added it to the list (with the earlier version). (Emperor 02:55, 22 October 2006 (UTC))
[edit] Criterion for list inclusion
What is the criterion for a game having entry into this list? I honestly can't see one which is going to make this list both non-POV and a reasonable length. For example, if we choose "every game released for the Spectrum", we get something over 6,000 entries (World of Spectrum has 6,847 games listed on its archive page) and huge problems with Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Even if we reduce it to "every game reviewed in a major Spectrum magazine", we're at something like 3,000 entries (CRASH had reviews of 2,924 games in its lifetime: see here), which is still pretty much an indiscriminate collection of information in my opinion.
Given all this, I'd starting to feel this list should be deleted, but I'm open to other opinions if a good criterion for entry can be found. Cheers --Pak21 10:02, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you think this list is bad, take a look at List of Commodore 64 games. :-) The trouble with lists is that they grow organically; adding a discriminat will only make them harder to maintain. Besides, if you add a discriminant it won't really be a List of ZX Spectrum games anymore, but rather a List of (some adjective) ZX Spectrum games - and then it can get subjective. Lists are also a way to flag missing articles. Having said that we also need to consider Always include criteria. However, none of the lists i have checked in Category:Computer and video game lists by platform currently have a criteria (other than their name) - as they stand, they include the entire scope of the list name, provided, of course, notability. --Frodet 23:02, 26 January 2007 (UTC) (I'm undecided when it comes to lists)
[edit] 2000 AD games
There were quite a few (more than I remember) and the comic makes them all available online. [3] I'll be working on this from the 2000 AD end but thought I'd throw in a note and reminder here too. (Emperor 15:45, 26 February 2007 (UTC))
[edit] Reworking the list
Since Category:ZX Spectrum games already performs the task of listing ZX spectrum games alphabetically, I think we can do something more interesting with this list. I'm thinking of listing chronologically, with publisher. It will be quite a task, but I'm up for it if no-one has any objections. Marasmusine 14:21, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
At present there are a lot of coder's names that need disambiguating. I'm going to leave it until the list is nearly complete, and then batch fix them. Marasmusine 08:03, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
