[edit] Volume extras

Besides the chapters, volumes have the following features (these are for volumes 1-7, later volumes may have other features, or some of the features indicated only for vol. 1 or 2 here):

  • Honorifics (all) - a short explanation of various honorifics used with names, since the translater wisely (IMHO) left them alone
  • About the Creators (all) - a short biography of Clamp
  • Past Works (vol. 1-2) - A quick rundown of some of Clamp's more prominent work, and how they tie in with T:RC
  • Dramatis Personae (vol. 1) - a quick rundown of the main characters
  • Translation Notes (all) - a list of places in the volume where the translater could've gone a different route, as well as explaining the significance behind various terms and references mentioned in the story
  • Preview of next volume (all) - exactly what it sounds like, a couple of untranslated pages from the next volume

Of these, the Honorifics, About, and Preview sections are insignificant, but I'm not sure about any of the others. Any opinions? (And yes, I love the idea of the translation notes every bit as much as you do ^_^ ) —Dinoguy1000 18:58, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm...usually I'll list everything in the volume's table of contents, even the insignificant stuff like the Honorifics and Preview and stuff. Actually some probably would argue that Honorifics isn't insignificant since it means they kept them rather than stripping them out like some do ;) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:04, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
All right, fair enough... The biggest headache doing this is going to be the chapter titles. For some reason, the ToC lists the chapters as "Chapitre 1", "Chapitre 2", etc., but each chapter does have a seperate name. —Dinoguy1000 19:15, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh gravy...that would be annoying. You'd think they'd put the chapter names in the TOC too. Meanwhile, lead all tweaked up and I added some general refs, category, etc. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:31, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
I just finished volumes 1 through 6 (my count above was off =P ), and I added the navbox (and then duly cleaned that up and moved a page to reflect the MoS naming conventions =D ). —Dinoguy1000 20:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Also, before I forget, the original volume list on the media page had information on the UK licensed edition. That information should be added back in as well if we're going to do the Singaporean English. —Dinoguy1000 20:16, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Woops, missed that, and yes those need to be included as well. Good thing it has long chapter lists ;) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
How are they supposed to be included? Under "VolumeExtras"? And how should they be formatted? —Dinoguy1000 20:41, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
There are two ways folks have been doing it. List of Fruits Basket chapters for putting all in the appropriate English fields, or Absolute Boyfriend#Manga for putting the first in the EnglishDate and ISBN fields, and the reset in the volume extras. Any preference? -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:54, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... Well, given the length of the chapter lists in Tsubasa, my preference would be for the Absolute Boyfriend method. I see little reason to stretch out the release date/ISBN row when there's all that empty real estate going to waste otherwise. ;) —Dinoguy1000 16:10, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm inclined to agree, especially when dealing with three countries like this :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 16:15, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
