[edit] Vandalism

Could we get this page protected? There's been a lot of anonymous vandalism recently. 69.137.192.114 (talk) 14:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Binky Abdul...

Should we make a seperate page for the fairy Binky? His last name was revealed to be Abdul on the special Fairy Idol (although this could just be a joke), and he seems to appear quite often.

[edit] Catman

Anyone else find it interesting that Adam West's character actually exists in Batman comics? http://www.superdickery.com/other/347.html Believe it or not, it's true. Freaking Catman. Same colors, same costume... - pokemaniacbill —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.118.86.5 (talk) 02:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Mama Cosma

Mama Cosma - I bet that it comes from Polish ("mama" means "mother" in Polish, as well "Cosma" is translated to "Cosmo's"). In direct translation Polish -> English "Mama Cosma" means "Cosmo's Mother" --80.53.127.170 23:12, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ma and Pa Turnbaum

Should it be mentioned that this may be a parody of Birnbaum, author of annual guides to Walt Disney World? Jrdaigle1000 14:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Character Not Mentioned As a Villain

Remy Buxaplenty is not listed as a villain. Remy has to be a villain because he barely got along with Timmy or Cosmo and Wanda. 66.191.115.61 00:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Cbsteffen

and why the taxi driver is mentioned as villain? He is just doing his job... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.13.22.199 (talk) 13:01, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Main Characters?

No one has yet to say this. I think you people are being pro-bias towards your favorite character. why in the Fairly Odd Parents box at the bottom of the screen and the top of the page is Tootie, Chester, and A.J., A.J. Mom, and Jorgan listed as main character, and Tootie and A.J. Mom rarely appears on the show, and the story is not center around Chester, A.J. or Jorgan even though they have appear more times than Tootie. If open an encyclopedia you are suppose to see facts not bias stuff what people want to be facts. Am I the only one who sees this?63.3.11.2 01:06, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:FOPVickysParents.gif

Image:FOPVickysParents.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Redirect to main page?

As the many edit summaries have made clear in the edit wars of the past month, this article fails several policies and guidelines and shouldn't exist as such. See also my explanation at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of The Fairly OddParents characters. Now, someone there suggested a thread should be started here instead of the AfD. The question now is: Can notability of these characters as a group be established so that that would necessitate this article list? Note this discussion is not to determine whether you like the information, but what can be done and what will be done to bring this article up to meet policies and guidelines, such as WP:FICT, WP:WEIGHT, WP:RS and a little more. Per the suggestion of the AfD, a month is a reasonable time span. – sgeureka t•c 20:09, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I found two reliable sources in the scholarly literature, which suggests that the characters on the show are notable.[1] and [2] AnteaterZot (talk) 10:00, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Encyclopedia or Dictionary?

Why have major character pages been deleted, and all the information we have on those characters now are vauge descriptions? Is this a wiki-encyclopedia or a wiki-dictionary? DanMat6288 (talk) 20:34, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Aw, it was User:TTN again; perhaps you've heard of him. If you know anything about these characters, please add it in. Wilhelmina Will (talk) 21:06, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Bit at the end

What in the world is with the bit at the end of this list? It has no information about the Fairly Odd Parents at all and, what's more, seems to have been put there on purpose. I am deleting this bit. If anyone has any objections, say so right now. 207.14.79.77 (talk) 23:26, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merger of Timmy Turner, Cosmo and Wanda and Baby Poof

The articles for these character do not establish notability (WP:FICT) and are written are nowhere inline with WP:WAF. Since the former redirects were not accepted, let's have a merge discussion to bring the information in line with policies and guidelines, i.e. WP:NOT#PLOT and WP:OR/WP:RS/WP:V (To give an example of a really good cartoon character article, see Troy McClure, but I guess already two or three medium paragraphs of real-world content would be acceptable for a start to leave the articles be). Merge discussions usually last for a month to allow editors interested in keeping the articles separate to bring them in shape. If there is obvious progress, this discussion can be closed early as moot, or closed later to give proper time for improvement. Please be aware that this is not a majority vote and that !votes like WP:ILIKEIT will have little weight in the final decision about the future of these articles. – sgeureka tc 21:41, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

They're not supposed to be individual pages. Someone just restored them. A similar thing happened about a week ago with the non-notable character pages relating to South Park. Just redirect them to here again, and if someone tries to add them back, just keep reverting them. Wilhelmina Will (talk) 01:33, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Guess what? You're not allowed to do that. According to an arbitration case ruling, you need a full consensus from the community before redirecting, merging, or deleting any article pertaining to a Television show character or episode. A majority vote is required to happen in order to build consensus on what should be done with the articles in question. You simply don't just merge an article without consensus. If you do redirect them here, I will report you to the arbitration council where they will evaluate your actions against the rulings. Good day. Dylanlip (talk) 13:12, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
To respond to Sgeureka's comment on waiting for people to fix it, please see my user page. It shows that I am currently working on Timmy Turner's page. Now, I have not seen the Cosmo & Wanda page yet, but it looks like it could use some work. I'll get on it to fix the article. I'll also try to get some good references, as they are critical to these types of articles. Dylanlip (talk) 13:24, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, I saw that the article doesn't even have any past history. That shows that it was deleted and then added again with a redirect to prevent adding it back. I want to know who did that to the article, as there was no consensus. Whoever did that will be reported to the arbitration council. I am furious that such tactics have been done. Someone will be blocked. Good day. Dylanlip (talk) 13:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I apologize for the last comment. I found the correct page and will start working on it immediately. Dylanlip (talk) 02:25, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Please check out Timmy's article now. It is now much better than before, now shows an out-of-universe perspective, and has new references, including a third-party online news article. The article now has absolutely NO reason to be deleted. Once I finish up Timmy's article, I will focus all attention on Cosmo & Wanda. This will hopefully keep you from doing anything bad to the articles. Dylanlip (talk) 00:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to come back to you so late, I somewhow missed this comment on my watchlist. But one sentence of real-world information is not exactly what I had in mind. Timmy Turner currently has nothing that couldn't as well fit into the list, see e.g. Characters of Carnivàle (and that one has 100 different sources and still doesn't necessitate a strict split). Cosmo and Wanda is as bad as ever, and I see Baby Poof was also resurrected, although it is a pretty good example for what should be immediately merged/prodded/AfDed. The month is over in about a week. If the articles don't drastically change (not in writing, but in the amount of real-world content not sourced by the show itself), or if we cannot come to agreement for a merge here then, I suggest to open a new thread at WP:FICT/N to get more input without going to AfD to get consensus. – sgeureka tc 08:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I added Baby Poof to the merge proposal. – sgeureka tc 08:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Even so, I am still working on the entire set of characters. Again, see my user page. It clearly states that I am working on the articles in question. Also, I have other projects to work on as well, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Princess Sally. What I'm saying is that you need to wait until I'm FULLY done. I will put the construction bars, showing that I will soon continue working on it. Please don't do anything to the articles yet in terms of merging. I'm trying as hard as I can to keep these articles alive. Dylanlip (talk) 22:39, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem, I'll respect your wish for the time being. But I still want you to know in the nicest possible way :-) that the merge proposals won't be off the table unless the articles demonstrate their right of existance. And I hope you'll be "fully" done within one or two weeks (three weeks have passed, and many more weeks since TTN left the stage) because "never" is just too long for me. There is always userspace if you're feeling rushed. – sgeureka tc 05:48, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
He's right, if he's saying what I think he is. You need to get more enthusiastic editors involved in your party. Wilhelmina Will (talk) 06:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

It has been over a month since the merge proposal. Notability has still not been established, and it is becoming increasingly doubtful that notability exists at all no matter how much time will be given. So, what should be done? Merging and/or userfying; raise this at the fiction noticeboard; or go to AfD? Either one works for me. – sgeureka tc 18:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

If notability canot be established, then definately a merger. Readers by now may be used to the existence of these articles, and otherwise a fan who wants to read about them might think that the articles are there. It should redirect to the list. Wilhelmina Will (talk) 19:04, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

So I merged the three characters in full here since an appropriate time had been given to establish notability, which didn't happen. Undiscussed resurrections of the article by anonymous and new users will be reverted with a pointer to this discussion, undiscussed resurrections by others will result in my going to AfD since I expect them to know how and why the articles were merged. Work can happen in the character list or in userspace until individual notability can be established beyond a doubt. – sgeureka tc 08:16, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
