[edit] Canadian vs US Air dates PART 2
I propose that we list all three air dates (US, Canada and UK). For some episodes the US premieres first, for others it is Canada. It is a bit confusing. If you look at tv.com, they use all the US airdates. I am not proposing that (because I think its fair to list the date that it aired somewhere first) but I think the other dates should be listed. Seantpainter 23:47, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Canadian vs US air dates
The Original Air Dates refer to US Television. In Canada they run earlier ("Michael" ran Friday, Jan 13). Would someone who knows the Canadian air dates please correct the dates to when they aired first (me don't know all dates nor if this is intentional)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.74.174.159 (talk • contribs)
- RE: I think we should leave the original U.S. air dates, because that was how SG-1 TV episodes are dated as well as season 1 of Atlantis. Besides the fact that SG-1 and Atlantis were products and originated from the U.S. we should leave it accordingly, despite the fact that this year Canada seems to be a little rougue by airing it before it airs in the U.S. You can get part of Canada's TMN airdates here [1], as they do not leave a history of past air dates. Although they have been airing the show on Monday nights with the exception of the last episode, 218.
- Also, does anyone know why the table for Season 3 is a bit "jacked up?" I did a visual comparison with Season 2's but could not find any inconsistencies that would cause it to not extend the second column fully. -- therearenospoons 02:13, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
- In my opinion, the airdate should be the one from the country that aired it first. Since some episodes aired in Canada quite some time before than they did in the US, there is no point in keeping "US airdates". I am not sure how the airing was in the previous seasons but if anyone has the information, it should be corrected. --Tone 23:39, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- I also think that the airdates should be as the original, as in how they aired in Canada. As for the show being American; both series are filmed and produced in Canada, Vancouver, BC, specifically, and in fact, the only American actor in this series is Joe Flanigan, all others are Canadian, so that should not be your basis for showing the US airdates. (Grizzwald 19:27, 28 January 2006 (UTC))
- The consensus seems to be to go with Canada's airdates, so it has been done. Anyone with objections feel free to revert the changes, otherwise, it seems only logical to go with how the word original is defined. Again, does anyone know why Season 3's table is smaller than the other Seasons'? Visual code comparison seems shows no differences, but yet WYSINWYG =( - therearenospoons 02:36, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Season 2 original airdates from IMDB, Please, no more mods to original air dates for Season 2 since they are correct. therearenospoons 10:29, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

- Which are the Canadian ones for the second part of season 2. No reason to keep US dates I agree --SoWhy 14:22, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- 211 onward (that is, 211 through 220) is the second half of season 2. I already made the change a couple days ago. I just noticed someone changing 220's after I had already changed them to Canadian on 20:28, 28 January 2006 (UTC), per my reply three paragraphs above (not including this one). BTW, 220 rocks--can hardly wait for 301 =) therearenospoons 00:55, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Is it known when season 3 will be aired?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 00:18, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- Read through the Gateword forums that season 3 might start airing in June, quite a long way to go. :) --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 06:19, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- Season 2 showed US airdates for 201 to 210 and Canadian dates for 211 to 220 (whichever aired first), as per discussion above, however the later US dates were shown for 111 to 120 rather than the earlier Canadian dates. I have corrected, using data from GEOS Nfitz 17:16, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Using the American air dates makes some sense, however, does it make sense to have complete summaries of episodes that are "TBA"? --Idjit 14:05, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- "Original airdate" - the American airdates for the 2nd half of Season 2 are no longer the original airdate, as Canada is showing it first Canada is the Original airdate. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 14:13, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
The individual episodes list the US air dates, so this list should use the same dates -12.218.155.57 20:06, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I undid your date-changing edit on the list because of the above discussion. I didn't notice however that the episode articles have the US date (you're right), so if you feel up to the task, you may change them yourself. – sgeureka t•c 08:10, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] sister article - FL!
List of Stargate SG-1 episodes recently was upgraded to a Featured list. See if we can copy the formatting and structure and so on from over there and make it a double-whammy. Main things were referencing, fair-use tagging. -- Alfakim -- talk 14:00, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 'Broken Convention' in Misbegotten (aka 302)
It seems the image file naming convention has been broken on this one, e.g. 'Episode Name (Stargate Atlantis).ext' Let's try to keep it the same from now, at least to somewhat bring it up to the same standards as our sister article. Also please make note of the image licensing tagging that has been employed by the FL model. I have already implemented this in the screenshot for 301 as well as the splash, see them for details. -therearenospoons 15:29, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

This picture is being used in Wikipedia's episode listing for the television show Stargate Atlantis (MGM). Although it is subject to copyright, the editors of Wikipedia, among them myself (~~~) in particular, feel that it is covered by US fair use laws because:
* It is a low resolution still image;
* It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the related product in any way
Further, we believe our use of the image is fair because it is not being used merely to decorate the related article, but rather:
* Aids commentary on the plot outline;
* Poignantly illustrates the related episode
Particularly because:
* It illustrates the significant moment which characterises the episode in question.

[edit] episode 312
Someone posted that this episode was going to be aired on the 27th. I can not find any listings to support. Anyone else find anything on this?
- Seriously? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 01:38, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- the 27th on Movie Channel in Canada... -Xornok 22:18, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
I have a strong feeling that we will be watching Misbegotten here in Canada tomorrow. I have reviewed TMN and Movie Central's online listings.
Yet again, there is no listing to support this episode on 12/04.
312 was released on the 27th. I just watched it. I'll change the article. [stargate70]
TMN isn't planning on airing any new episodes until at least January. It's only Movie Central in western Canada that is airing new episodes. I had checked the Vancouver listing in zap2it.com last week, and they did list the new episode (312) for Monday November 27th. As 312 is now available for download in HDTV from demonoid, I can only assume that it aired on schedule. The episode was also listed at Movie Central's website (as episode 51). After 312 things are a bit more iffy, as Movie Central hasn't got their December listings up yet, and Zap2it is showing "No Episode Title". Nfitz 22:38, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 314 Sunday
I think the listings are wrong.. Tao of Rodney is 315 and Sunday is 314. There seems to be nothing about the episode called "Sunday" GenestealerUK 21:41, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
no, tao of rodney just aired as 314, sunday will be either 316 or 317... -Xornok 21:52, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Gateworld lists Sunday as 314, Tao of Rodney as 315, and The Game as 316. nmw 00:35, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
yep, but if you read the page carefully, they say that that is their production order, not their airing order. ken c., a writer for the show, said that sunday was filmed earlier cause of time and budget reasons... but its suppose to air after the ark, making it the 17 episode... -Xornok 03:55, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Any idea when 315 comes out?
As an aussie, its kinda confusing wondering what the date will be down here when the Canadian broadcast Stargate Atlantis ep goes up. Presumably it will be 'The Game', but who knows. At the moment, down under, its the 19th, almost the 20th, but the episode from the 18th still isnt up. Any ideas?
Sorry its not wikipedia specific :P But please, help a fan out :) Thanks for developing this episode guide, it's really helped with all the confusion after "Sunday" wasn't aired.
[edit] Episode Numbers
Are the Episode Numbers supposed to be production numbers or not? Sunday was produced prior to Tao of Rodney, but was meant to be aired after. --00:49, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
I thought it meant airdate order. Anyway, it was missing a number so I fixed that until someone can decide otherwise. ---16 Jan 2007
[edit] A general complaint about the summary articles of each episode
Um, I read through each episode summary recently and came to a conclusion. Most of them to be rewritten partially or completely, preferably with fewer instances of "meanwhile" and "suddenly". I would do it, but I have only seen the first few episodes. Someone who has seen all the episodes would be better suited to going through the summaries. I put this here because it's easier than posting it in the discussion sections of all however many episodes there are. --harmsc12
[edit] Sunday, 314 vs 317
I think until there is a confirmation or a source on the change of the production numbers, we go with www.gateworld.net as a source. Obviously the storyline doesn't make sense if 314 aired before 315 or 316, we should maintain consistency with www.gateworld.net as we do use them as a source. Any thoughts on this? Idjit 18:42, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry but broadcast is more reliable, the episodes aired in that order and so until a higher source says otherwise they are the correct order. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 18:53, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reformatting, etc
Before I go in and begin work I'll tell you guys here first, I intend to (beginning with season one) reformat the LOE to use Episode list, I will also be correcting file-names on some of the images (proper nouns, etc - Poisoning the well (Stargate Atlantis) would become Poisoning the Well (Stargate Atlantis)) and updating a few screen captures. As well I will also be uploading web-resolution screen captures over the present ones and rewriting/rewording the synopses for grammar, etc. Does anybody "object" to this? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 16:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright violations in episode synopses?
I'm totally new to Wikipedia, so please forgive any mistakes I may make in this or in the similar post I've put in the SG-1 episode list forum.
I'm concerned that there are significant copyright violations in at least three of the Wikipedia Atlantis episode synopses, all from the second season. Large sections of each synopsis are borrowed almost word-for-word from the official synopses at SciFi Channel's site, without any citation. The three problem articles I've discovered are: "Duet" (WP synopsis vs. SciFi synopsis), "Epiphany" (WP synopsis vs. SciFi synopsis), and "The Long Goodbye" (WP synopsis vs. SciFi synopsis).
I hope that someone with more experience than I have can address this potential problem; with apologies for passing the buck, I'm probably not the person for the job. It's taken me more time than I expected--and can spare--just to learn how to post this message! Thanks. Kiramin 18:54, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Unless they link and credit the appropriate source you are correct it is against policy to simply copy and paste another page and act as if it was written for here. If you found something like that, delete it immediatly and explain on it's discussion page (or in the edit summary if it fits) that you had to due to it being plagerism (knowingly or unknowingly). Wikipedia policy doesn't give grace periods on that, you are allowed to take it down immediatly (though it is courteous to the original poster to explain why, so they can potentially repost with the proper citations). Do make sure however that it isn't properly cited first. It is acceptable to use some free sources of information as long as credit is given appropriatly to the source of the material originally (and generally it must be unmodified... which is tricky on wikipedia since other people can later come in and modify individual bits, which often is NOT acceptable to keep up then, depending on the sources stance on fair use of it's material).

[edit] episodes 1x08 and 1x09 in reverse order?
Hi, I noticed that my Series 1, Volume 2 DVD places episode 'Home' as the last episode on that disk, i.e. episode 8, and 'Underground' is the first episode on disk 3 i.e. episode 9, but the list here shows them in reverse order. If this issue has already been discussed and resolved, and the episodes are deliberately shown in a different order to the DVD, then I apologise... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.255.2.168 (talk) 09:25, 11 May 2007 (UTC).
- The episodes are ordered by their original airdates, unless obvious time/event inconsistances occured within episodes (like SG-1's 5x15-5x17; not on SGA so far). Therefore, the ep order on DVDs doesn't matter. – sgeureka t•c 09:36, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Numbering Convention
I've noticed that the first season is numbered using a different convention than all subsequent seasons (101 instead of 1x01). Is there a reason for this difference in convention? If not, the first season should be changed to match the others. Jaban 00:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Samantha Carter arrives
Do we have a source for episode 4x02, only it states: "Colonel Samantha Carter and the Apollo try and desperately search for the lost city", while the main Atlantis article says: "Colonel Samantha Carter joins as a regular and acts as the expedition leader but how she arrives at the city is still unknown". If theres a good source then we can update the main article. Think outside the box 14:19, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- I usually just use gateworld and Joe Mallozzi's blog as spoiler sources, and IIRC there were some spoilers about Carter arriving in Atlantis by space ship. I don't have any reliable sources for this at hand ATM, but IMO it's better to work on existing SG articles than to spend time on finding the source of this spoiler, especially since this spoiler won't matter anymore in a month(?) when the ep airs. – sgeureka t•c 16:24, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tagging of episode articles
I am in the process of tagging episode articles of Atlantis for cleanup, mainly for not establishing notability, for too long plot summaries, for having a trivia section, and for lacking a production and reception section (usually one sourced medium-sized paragraph each is sufficient to establish notability). Note that no definite actions are planned for what to do with nonnotable episodes, but it is likely that their articles will be adapted to follow wikipedia policies and guidelines, namely WP:NOTABILITY/WP:FICTION/WP:EPISODE, WP:NOT#PLOT and WP:TRIVIA (and a few more). In the worst case, such articles will be transwikied and given a new home at wikia:Stargate (see List of Stargate SG-1 episodes for how that might look), in the best case all articles are expanded to establish notability (official TV magazines, companion guides, audio commentaries and reliable reviews can help out with info, see 200 (Stargate SG-1) and maybe Zero Hour (Stargate SG-1) for examples). There are currently discussions to consider season pages where most/all episode articles are merged (see Smallville (season 1) for an example). As I said, nothing is set in stone at this time, so please don't have the tags cause you panic. :-) You are encouraged to improve the articles, and remove cleanup tags when they no longer apply. – sgeureka t•c 19:35, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- As per Recent changes and the non-interest in cleanup activities regarding the SG-1 episode articles, I take it there is also not much hope that the Atlantis episode articles will be brought in line with existing wikipedia policies and guidelines (see above). Therefore, I'll do what seems to have worked well for the SG-1 articles: transwiki them and link there. This saves the information from deletion (as in completely in-accessible). Because of the current arbcom injunction, I will of course not redirect any Atlantis articles. Once the injunction is lifted, I'll leave a few of the more notable/popular episode articles on wikipedia after the transwiki, while redirecting the others. The episodes that stay can be re-evaluated at a later time. All of these actions can be undone in case someone wants to work on an article (see the examples above how episode articles should look). I have not yet decided if Season articles like those for SG-1 are the way to go for Atlantis, but I think it's worth a try later. – sgeureka t•c 15:47, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Season 1 has already been transwikiied by someone else, and I have begun to transwiki Season 2. Once the arbcom injunction is lifted, I will redirect the episodes that have been transwikiied. Feel free to resurrect episode articles that you want to work on, but be aware that if no progress is made to bring them in line with WP:EPISODE, they will be redirected after a while again. – sgeureka t•c 06:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- Oh, hi. :-) I already checked User:Diabound00 (like user Diabound00 on wikia) here on wikipedia to thank him for the head start, but his userpage was spammed by bot messages and I thought he was no longer active. I was actually pretty surprised to see the Season 1 pages transwikiied. Like with the SG-1 episodes, I generally only transwiki a handful of episodes each day and take my time, and since you're doing a good job (in the GDFL sense and otherwise), it looks like a proper transwiki will be finished much quicker than I ever anticipated. Thank you again. – sgeureka t•c 09:29, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Season 3/4 Spoiler
It seems to me that the synopsis for the season 4 premiere spoils the "mystery" in the synopsis for the season 3 finale. The season 3 finale synopsis says that Sheppard returns to an abandoned Atlantis in a desert, and the season 4 premiere synopsis says that he returns from the future. Seems to me that in the season 3 finale, the Stargate sends Sheppard into the future, and he returns to the present in season 4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.84.52.46 (talk) 04:49, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Redirection of Atlantis episodes
As mentioned in #Tagging of episode articles, Atlantis episodes (like the SG-1 episodes) are being transwikied and then redirected because they fail WP:EPISODE. Attempts to initiate encyclopedic expansion via notability tags in January and advertising my intention of redirection several weeks ago have so far remained unanswered, so I take this as silent agreement, especially since the same has successfully been done with SG-1 episodes. As such, I have started a season article for Atlantis for the first season (see Stargate Atlantis (season 1)) as a test run for the remaining seasons. I chose only notable (e.g. award-winning or many award nominations) episodes to remain for now, the pilot episode of course, and then those episode articles that pass WP:FICT/WP:EPISODE because they show significant encyclopedic treatment, which would make the List of episodes too long (non-notable example from SG-1: "Zero Hour", but there are currently no episode articles for SGA).
At the moment, I only cut the links (i.e. no redirection at this point) of episodes where I believe the articles would not pass WP:FICT/WP:EPISODE soon. Please relink the episodes where you disagree with my assertion, within the next week (I realize and accept that my views are not necessarily correct). I will then redirect the remaining unlinked episodes after the week. The old articles are easily accessible via the "SG Wiki" link next to each episodes name (the old article have been transwikied there). Another review might take place in a few months for those Atlantis episode articles that still fail the inclusion criteria. The articles can be revived anytime if you wish to expand them significantly, aspiring to standards such as "Zero Hour", "Window of Opportunity", "200", or "Unending".
Discussion is strongly encouraged. Reverting articles that have been redirected for some time, without the reverter demonstrating encyclopedic expansion within a few days or seeking discussion, will likely be reverted again to the redirected status. If you have questions, just shoot. – sgeureka t•c 16:57, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, anyways I have added back the links to the previous version. Anyways, I argue that someone has been creating all these episode articles on Wikipedia hence you do not have a majority, although you are accurate on the silent part. Can you point out exactly why these episodes are not noteable. I also admit I may be wrong but I will listen to any suggestions on this issue.Janus8463 (talk) 01:28, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

- Seeing that not a single SGA episode has won a major award (except "Childhood's End" maybe, which was a bad episode IMO), it is rather questionable whether any of them are notable. But that wasn't the reason why they were redirected. WP:PLOT#NOT says articles should not just consist of plot. But the SGA articles did. WP:WAF says there should be a balance of plot summary and real-world content, so when there is no real-world content, there is no reason for plot. If someone wishes to to expand an article to include 2-3 medium paragraphs of real-world content to support 3-4 paragraphs of plot, that would be perfectly fine (in fact, I would encourage that). But that hasn't happened for any SG-1/Atlantis episode article in the past half year except for ep articles that I have been expanding, so the articles should be/remain redirected until someone wishes to "fix" them to fit the inclusion criteria.
- Related question: Why did you copy the episode list here and not leave the transclusion up? It just re-introduced a lot of redundance and error-proneness. If it's just to get the links back, that could have been changed on the transcluded pages. – sgeureka t•c 09:31, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry about my sloppy reversion, I just copied and pasted the previous version with links from the history tab. Also, I don't think most of the editors are aware of the discussion being carried out here considering that a lot of people make these episode articles without participating here. But your suggestions about lack of real-world content are valid and if editors can not come up with noteability it might be better to create an article with a summary per season & take out the links and keep the current article. - (I created most of the SGA Season 4 articles before I became aware of the fiction policies and guidelines, and part of why I am active here is that I want to clean up the mess I made in good-faith ignorance.) Unfortunately, your last reply was not clear to me. I already created the season pages for Atlantis, with the possibility to expand the summaries for each episode (see Stargate SG-1 (season 8) as a first attempt for what I am envisioning). The links to the season pages were at the top of each season episode table before your revision. If you're fine with this, I'd like to go back to that. (I don't see the point of keeping the episode links since all episodes were transwikied, but if you think this requires more discussion, I can resurrect the episode links in the transcluded season pages for a little more time.) – sgeureka t•c 09:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

- Sorry for the unclear reply made previously. Anyways what you did to Stargate SG-1 (season 8) seems like a fine example. Since there seems to be a lack of arguement or support for seperate articles for each episode and since the policy seems to support your point I see no problem in shifting toward an article for each season. All right, let's get started, and if there isn't any debate I'd assume we have a silent agreement from the rest of the editors. Cheers. Janus8463 (talk) 18:57, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

- Okay. :-) I have reverted back to the version that transcludes the season pages. If you (or anyone else) would like some of of the individual episode articles to remain for a little longer so that they can be improved to meet WP:EPISODE/WP:FICT, please restore the episode links in the season pages within the next seven days so that I know to leave them alone. All other non-linked episodes will be redirected (everything but their plot has already been merged). Even then, as said above, every article can easily be resurrected for encyclopedic expansion. I'll add the links on each season's talkpage. – sgeureka t•c 18:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
