[edit] Gnasty Gnorc and the Gnorcs
I would like to make reference to a quote I once heard; "Sorcerror, heal thyself". In these terms, Gnasty Gnorc could not have created the gnorcs: it is just a contradiction: if the gnorcs where not in existance untill Gnasty Gnorc cast the spell, he himself woul;d not be in existance TO cast the spell (he is,after all, just a gnastier gnorc)
through this concept, I think he must not have created the gnorcs - perhaps he jsut summoned a hell of a lot of them. out of darkness, out of mind: Floating Banana 08:54, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- The booklet that came with the original Spyro the Dragon game states that Gnasty Gnorc transformed all of the stolen jewels into monsters resembling himself, so if he didn't create the Gnorc race, at the very least he enormously multiplied its numbers (by the thousands). This is why, in the original Spyro the Dragon game, when you kill a Gnorc it transforms back into a jewel with a little puff of smoke. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 97.81.97.140 (talk) 21:29, August 21, 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Separate articles
I've been wondering, should Ripto ad Hunter have their own articles? I mean, Hunter appeared in every Spyro game of the original continuity with the exception of the first, being fully playable in A Heroe's Tail and partially playable in Year of the Dragon, and Ripto was a primary antagonist in five of the games set in the original continuity(that is what, half of them), in comparision to others who have been primary antagonists in one game a piece. Michael Mad 17:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- They originally were, until someone decided to be bold and merge them en masse. --Stratadrake 22:19, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I remember those articles. They also merged Crash Bandicoot characters into a characters list, but let some of the more prominent characters(i.e. Dr. Cortex, Tiny Tiger) keep thier pages. For the Spyro series, only the protagonist has his own article, and he shares that one with his sidekick. If it is no problem with you Stratadrake, or any other Wikipedian for that matter, I will create seperate articles for Hunter and Ripto once my school year ends(in other words, this coming Friday). Michael Mad 20:10, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please keep WP:FICT in mind when thinking of creating articles. A character must have out of universe information (creation, development) to need an article. Try to have sources ready before bothering. That is why they were merged in the first place. TTN 20:18, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Will get references when creating the articles. Michael Mad 15:42, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Weel, I've searched and searched and searched, but alas, I've foud no really helpful sources so I won't be creating the articles. So, instead of having one list for all characters, I propose that we have two; one for the protagonists and heroes (and yes, Moneybags), and one for all of the villains(example, Ripto or Red) and henchmen(example, Crush and Gulp). What do you think? Michael Mad 20:47, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Why? This page isn't even large. After it is expanded by out of universe information, then it should be split if necessary. TTN 21:22, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- If by "split" you mean section off, that's easy enough to do. However, it might be best to check for and remove characters who so far only appear in one game in the Spyro series -- where mentioning them in the article for said game is sufficient. --Stratadrake 02:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay, just forget all my prior ideas. Here is an idea that some of you should agree with. With the series having been rebooted by The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, I suggest that we establish two sections: one section of the page for protagonists and antagonists of the original continuity, and another section of the page for the protagonists and antagonists of the new post-ANB continuity. The way the list is now may lead to confusion amongst readers. What do you think? Michael Mad 12:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely agree on splitting the series between pre- and post- reboot (which reminds me, we need to fix those fugly section headers in the Spyro character article). --Stratadrake 02:19, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
But what do we do for Spyro and Sparx? Should we have them in a small section at the top of the page? Perhaps we should put them in both, as the Spyro and Sparx of the original continuity differ from those of The Legend of Spyro continuity? Oh, I'll think of something. Michael Mad 09:29, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
After sorting out the article, I was just wondering; should we create redirect pages for Cyril, Terrador and Volteer? Michael Mad 15:06, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Characters from a single Spyro game (and with relatively small amounts of screentime, at that) ? Nah, just redirect 'em to the game's article. --Stratadrake 15:36, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I think we should deffinatly do a hunter article. and we could do a ripto article aswell. and i think we should merge sparx with spyro seing as sparx is in evry game and is always around spyro. but seing as hes not a massive massive character and not much is known about him we should put him in the spyro article DeadWood 19:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- The Sparx article already is merged into the Spyro character article. As for Ripto and Hunter . . . I dunno. --Stratadrake 02:30, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Only sparx is. And besides i still think we should do a hunter article and if possible, a ripto article —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ian-turner77 (talk • contribs) 10:26, August 25, 2007 (UTC)
- I doubt it. The reason was already clearly stated a few bullet points above - there needs to be additional information other than their character development to ensure that they are legible for a separate Wiki article. Much of these characters were merged into that list for a reason. Freqrexy 19:57, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
The information on hunter is a little imbarrising. we need to do an article on hunter. DeadWood 12:06, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Well then stop talking and make one, I would but my articles suck - Mina —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.182.114.74 (talk) 03:33, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Even if you do a good job at the article, it won't get put up as there's not enough information on some of the minor Spyro characters to base a full article around them. I thought that point was already discussed. Freqrexy 10:18, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Requesting temporary page protection
In spite of all the heavy nagging, there's still that one person that is insisting on bringing Crash Bandicoot characters into the article. He/she just won't stop. I know that this might be a little extreme but do you think we could get the page some temporary protection, like stopping guests or new users from editing the article for a limited time?
I noticed the same was going on at the Crash Bandicoot section as well with the other way round occurring. I don't know if the guys there would be just as bothered, but I just thought I'd mention it in case that page would get the same approach. Freqrexy 21:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- Said same person is also insistant to include his/her fan speculation into the articles (Spyro with a crush on Coco? Since when?), so I have to agree that something needs to be done. CBFan 16:27, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have to disagree. I don't like constantly reverting anon edits, but as RFP is concerned it has to be full-protection or none; this little edit skirmish appears to be primarily anons vs. regulars, and while semi-protection would force them to take their arguments into Talk (where it should be anyway), it could be seen as endorsing one POV while silencing the other, and protection doesn't work that way. --Stratadrake 03:53, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:RageRipto.JPG
Image:RageRipto.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE PICTURES. THEY ARE PATHETIC. at least put a more reazanable picture of hunter and moneybags. someone give hunter his own article! DeadWood 17:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Cool down. If you can locate a better image (with an acceptable fair-use rationale), be bold and help give a hand yourself. --Stratadrake 00:42, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Year of the Dragon
A kangaroo was in the Year of the Dragon named Sheila is she a 1 timer? Clyde1998 14:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- I instantly saw Sheila on the characters, sorry! Clyde1998 14:15, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Anthropomorphism
Is it really necessary to say that these characters are anthropomorphic? I noticed some characters are anthropomorphic while others it is not mentioned but assumed. I'm pretty sure whoever wrote this article and included anthropomorphic is a pseudointellectual. It's kind of obvious EVERY speaking character in this game is anthropomorphic, and so it need not be mentioned!
Also, NEDM. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.91.195.117 (talk) 16:41, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
