[edit] Character images
Just a suggestion, how about adding character images in this page. It's so plain.
- If I had pics that met fair use I would gladly add them, but unfortunately, such are hard to find. Lately, a lot of character images have been deleted from Wikipedia, so I don't want to put up pics just to have them removed. --Eruhildo 17:13, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- What about using non-free/fair-use pictures, like on most other anime pages? For example, this picture of Haruhi. [1] Elunah (talk) 02:31, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- We can only get away with a couple of fair use images max without someone complaining. I would advise to find one or two images that show all the characters, but looking at the article we already have one. As for plain.. just take a look at the Japanese wiki where they have no fair use images at all. Shiroi Hane (talk) 16:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with Shiro - the only main character missing from the current pic is Ashley, but I don't really think the article needs anymore pics now. --Eruhildo (talk) 19:19, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. One thing I noticed about the current pic, though--I don't think that's Andy between Sylvia and Kasha. It looks like the bounty hunter who appears in the two-part OVA (episodes 25 and 26), Amu Tranfa of AT Hunter's Office. The name appears right after the opening credits. I would add her to the list myself, but I'm not sure how her name is spelled in Katakana or Romaji. I'll look into it. Elunah (talk) 06:16, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- You're probably right. I haven't seen the OVA yet, so I just guessed at who it was - Andy looked the closest. The Japanese article lists her as アム・トランファ. I would say Amu Tranfa is a good romanization unless there's an official one. The seiyū is Hitomi Nabatame. --Eruhildo (talk) 21:20, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Now that I look even closer, I don't think the person between Miranda and Integra is Sarah. There's one OVA-only character whose face looks just like Sarah's, and who is dressed like the person in the picture. Also, Sarah's hair is different than the woman in the picture. With this in mind, maybe we should look for a couple group pictures that encompass the characters better? I'm fairly certain we could encompass all the important characters in two or three well-chosen fair-use pictures. Just my two cents, though. I'll try to find out what the name of the OVA-only character who looks like Sarah. ~~ Elunah であります (Chat) 20:58, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree - it would be better to have multiple pics if they exemplify the main characters better. I think there are pictures of all the Proceeds together, of everyone from the Hunters' office, and of the Anderson bandits. That would be better than what we currently have. --Eruhildo (talk) 22:52, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I cobbled together some pics from screen caps and various places. There's one good shot of Maverick Office, which could have also served as a picture of the Andersons, except that Rose is (for some bizarre reason) not in it. There are two pictures of the PROCEEDs and three of the Andersons. Here's the webpage. ~~ Elunah であります (Chat) 00:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

- I think I found a great screen cap in ep 22 that includes Roy, Miranda, Kasha, Yuto, the Anderson Brothers, Accela, and Joseph. Perhaps we could use this in combination with a picture that has a front view of Rose and Solty, and with one of the other PROCEEDs. The problems are that Solty is facing away and I won't be able to capture it until I get my DVDs back. I can probably get it within a day or so. ~~ Elunah であります (Chat) 17:58, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Layout
Is there a need for all the indention? I think it looks kind of weird to have all of the text indented. --Eruhildo 23:00, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Probably, looks kind of neat. And about those bold letters, might be important. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.212.7.198 (talk) 00:56, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- I looked it up, the bold letters are not important. See the Manual of Style. --Eruhildo 03:57, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Recently, editors have been moving the character stats to before the voice actors. I've never seen something like that on other articles of similar nature. I feel that the voice actors are more important information than the stats and thus should be listed first. Also, I think it looks visually unbalanced with the voice actors (a longer line) listed after the stats (usually shorter lines if there). Please discuss this here before making such an edit. Thank you. --Eruhildo 04:51, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thats just your opinion. Voice actors are not that important to put first than the character stats besides any voice actors from any languages can play that role, but the character stats will always the same and it'll never change. There are anime characters in some anime pages have their voice actors located in the last sentence of the description, some as a separated section and is located at the last part of the page, and some don't have it at all. The reason to think that way why the voice actors comes first is that the characters don't have stats or no one bothered to put it yet, only the descriptions. Try to take a look on Absolute Anime, Kyou no Hana, or Tokyo 2040, they have that kind of layout. There are some in Wikipedia itself; see Magical Nyan Nyan Taruto and Sorserous Stabber Orphen. Anime characters' stats and descriptions are the main priority, not the voice actors. Even though they give the voice of the characters they're playing, they're only secondary and not the characters themselves. For the improvement of this page, please stop undoing their work. It must be frustrating and annoying for them having their work reverted back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.212.7.82 (talk) 04:46, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

- I never said it wasn't my opinion. The voice actors will never change either, and to some people VA are more important than stats. Also just because fan sites do something a particular way doesn't mean Wikipedia should do the same. Fan sites are generally not considered valid sources. However, thank you for showing me articles on Wikipedia that list the VA after the stats as I had not previously seen that. You may have found it frustrating and annoying to have your work reverted, but I also found it frustrating and annoying to have no one listen when I said "please take it to the talk page". --Eruhildo 21:09, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with 125.212.7.82, besides I'm the one who gave all the character stats to begin with and that kind of layout, see my History. At that time, I was new in Wikipedia and I just type the information I've got without giving attention about the layout in the character descriptions. As I get accustomed and know more about it, I had to re-edit some of my earlier works to look presentable. --Philippeandrews 06:59, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

- It seems like no one else is of my opinion in this matter, so I'll stop putting the VA before the stats. Though I still think it looks rather unbalanced, I feel it is more important to go with the consensus, and the last thing I want is an edit war. --Eruhildo 21:09, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Grammatical cleanup
This article set is very good, but there seem to be some grammatical errors and awkward phrasings that should be changed in order to improve the readability of the article. The main recurring things I've noticed are run-on sentences and random transitions between tenses (present to past and back to present). I'm going to start making some corrections--if anyone has any complaints or remarks about the cleanup, please comment. Elunah (talk) 17:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- Glad I can be of assistance! =) After the first round of grammatical rewrites are finished, I was thinking about doing some larger-scale rewrites and additions to the content. Should I comment on changes here first, or make the changes and discuss disagreements that may arise post hoc? Elunah (talk) 01:33, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ashley Links/Lynx
Are the recent changes of Locke's name from Ashley Links to Ashley Lynx accurate? It seems like the name can be Romanized either way, but I seem to remember that the official subs transliterate the name as Links. Thoughts? --Elunah (talk) 21:22, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know - I watched before it was ever released in the US. This is really more of a question for Philippeandrews as he made the changes. So, Philippeandrews we'd like to know what source you got that romanization from. If both romanizations are well known, we should put a footnote about it like was done for Haji in Blood+. --Eruhildo (talk) 15:48, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- I think I've found the source of the naming mismatch, but it's from video files, so I can't produce the images here. As far as I remember, the official DVD subs use "Ashley Links", but a number of fansubs--"Exiled Destiny", in this case--use "Ashley Lynx". I recommend we use "Links", as per the official sub, on the main page, and make a footnote as you suggested, giving the alternate "Lynx". I'll watch the DVDs again to make sure I'm remembering right. The part I found where his name is explicitly used is in episode 22, around 15 minutes in, when Accela is going nuts. --Elunah (talk) 21:17, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
