Talk:List of Slovak Americans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
removed people not of Slovak origin or just who lived in slovakia.
- Thank you for your interest in this list. Slovak ancestry is well documented for all entries in question. Jbetak 10:08, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for the response. But can you provide info for Steve McQueen and Paul Newman? Thanks! JJstroker 12:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

- Hey, thanks for raising this - I found good sources on Paul Newman and had to remove Steve McQueen, since most of the claims sounded like an urban legend created by Slovak expat organizations. Best 67.180.197.16 18:12, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Alright thanks. You are doing a good job. But can you show me the sources you found for Steve McQeen? I also heard that he was part Slovak. I would like to atleast read it. I thought Paul Newman was primarily Jewish who merely had ancestors that lived in Slovakia. Did he have some ethnic slovak roots? Also isnt Andy Warhol Jewish originally who just had ancestors living in slovakia?

- Moved Tom Selleck here pending a reputable source that he is Slovak-American. Mad Jack 17:19, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Why is Peter Chrapko on the list -- anyone? 71.198.59.81 06:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Also, why is Jon Voight back on the list? The data of the allegedly Slovak father (Elmer Voight) is is rather sparse. He was born in 1909, but no place of birth is mentioned. He's usually referred to as Czechoslovakian or Czech immigrant, which complicates things further. 71.198.59.81 17:20, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- furthermore "Elmer Voight" sounds German, Elmar and Voigt are very common names in Germany, 1/3 of Czechoslovakian population belonged to the German minority before WW2. --217.224.31.44 17:08, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
