[edit] Wikibooks

I encourage anyone to transwiki to Wikibooks. Any takers? - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:40, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Why this page in particular and not any of the other Lists of Pokémon? Unless that was the idea for later down the line. --Sparky Lurkdragon 18:21, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
I didn't feel like putting it on all pages. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:57, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
Well, two things, then: One, lists are not unheard of in Wikipedia, indeed are all over the place; Pokémon just have a lot of things they can be listed by. Two, perhaps that comment would be better at the main List of Pokémon article, even if it is a disambig. --Sparky Lurkdragon 06:10, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
Lists are used for referencing similar subject material. Listing by number, region, type, etc. are not for reference. - A Link to the Past (talk) 08:14, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
While numbers are a grey area for me, I think lists by type, reigon, and color can be quite useful, although the stickler is that it's mainly for game use. Hm. I wouldn't be willing to transwiki myself, but I don't really care which wiki they end up at. --Sparky Lurkdragon 22:40, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
It is cruft. One list is good enough. - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:17, September 7, 2005 (UTC)
Which one, then? --Sparky Lurkdragon 02:17, September 7, 2005 (UTC)
The best one to keep. Make a poll on it. - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:50, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Should the non-Hoenn-natives be included?

They technically are numbered, following the National Dex after 202, but never shown. Bulbasaur, for example, is 203, Ivysaur is 204, Venusaur is 205, and so on... unlike how Johto Dex hasn't had the new guys added into it, the Hoenn Dex has them all up to 386, Celebi... Just a thought. Tom Temprotran 04:34, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

It'd be way too difficult. I sure don't want to do it. DL 20:43, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
They were given internal numbers to avoid Missingno.-like glitches if you didn't have access to the national-dex. They do not appear in any official material other than somehow modifying the game to show something it's not supposed to. Also, if you look at the list of all the non-Hoenn natives at the end, they are ordered by their national pokedex number; they were not renumbered, just added to the list in chunks at a different place to avoid glitches, clearly showing it is not Pokémon 'canon' or officially endorsed by Nintendo. All right, then. Tom Temprotran 19:44, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sortable list

I thought I should point out that new Wikipedia technology could practically and unupsettingly make this article obsolete. MediaWiki has introduced the ability to make lists sortable. This would mean that we could basically merge the lists of Pokémon by name, stage, National Dex, Johto Dex, Hoenn Dex, and Sinnoh Dex all into one sortable list.

Recall a while ago that some people wanted to delete most of these list articles because there were just so many of them, but the main argument against that was that each needed to be sorted separately. But now that lists can be sorted by the viewers, all these problems can easily be solved!

Well, actually, there are still a few bugs to be worked out. See the discussion at the Pokémon Collaborative Project's talk page if you want to see a few samples and discuss this. --Brandon Dilbeck 20:02, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
