Talk:List of Playboy NSS models
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jerzy has made the reasonable point that this article (which I didn't initiate, although I seem to be the principal contributor) needs to be cleaned up. It is indeed very large, and some better introductory paragraph is definitely needed. I'll try to come up with something in the next few days unless anyone has a better idea.
I think I must disagree, however, that it "Shows no concern for providing information, and deserves no confidence that it does so at all." On the contrary, I wish I had access to a source like this when I was collecting newsstand specials, and wish that it was more complete, as I'm certain there are a few Alesha Oreskovich appearances I've never found.
One potential suggestion for cleaning up would be to simply find room for these appearances on each model's own page, similar to a "filmography." The downside, apart from it taking an eternity to do (LOL!), is that many of these models, particularly from the 1980s and early 1990s, are one-shot purchases, and occasionally appearing under a pseudonym. Some documentation would be nice to detail their appearances, but I have to question whether some of these single-appearance models really need a page.
Any suggestions, comments or criticism are certainly welcome. I'm a newer member and I'd like to keep the place looking tidy. HipsterDad 4 July 2005 00:56 (UTC)
- An intro is definitely needed. For models who make multiple appearances, such as Alley Baggett, it would probably be best to put their list of appearances in that person's article. I do not see the need of making pages for people who were unremarkable "one-hit wonders". However, if you really wanted to reduce the size of this page, you can split it into subpages. For instance, you could split List of Playboy NSS models/A-M and List of Playboy NSS models/N-Z, thus cutting the size of the main page in half. Obviously, you would want to leave the main page (List of Playboy NSS models) up and linking to the subpages, thus providing information on what Playboy NSS models are and how the listing works. Just a thought. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. 4 July 2005 04:23 (UTC)
- Okay, I've done a sample for how this might look with Victoria Zdrok, with a "See individual entry" note on her entry on the List of Playboy NSS models main page. I suggest that if this is done for every model with three or more appearances, the page will become much easier to handle. Once myself and other users have finished editing the main page this way, it should drop down under 100k, and then could then be split in half or in thirds. HipsterDad 4 July 2005 21:18 (UTC)
[edit] Progress
I think it's getting much more manageable even with the addition of a great deal of new information. I've added details from better than a dozen Special Editions while also reducing the size of the page from 176 to 154. I think we can get it down to under 120 before splitting the page into thirds. (I would rather not split it until a great deal more information is added, simply to make it easier to input the new magazine information.)
If anyone would like to help, the best three ways to do it are:
1. Create more model / Playmate pages. If the model does not already have a page, she needs one, so I can move the data into it. (That said, I have a specific rotation I'm doing, and watching the relevant page size as I work, so unless you have a favorite you'd specifically like to move, I can do them and will get to each model in rotation.)
2. Formatting. The magazine data should look like this:
- Italics Bold Italics Standard Volume Standard Date Page Numbers Period.
3. Input more magazine data, particularly issues since 1999 and particularly with page numbers, if possible.

[edit] Merge redundant text
The intro text is now replicated in four places (this article, and the three subarticles after the breakup). Perhaps it should be a Template, so that it is edited and updated in one place. --Randal L. Schwartz 18:35, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Suggest that the pages be renamed to be Playboy Special Edition models -- the main pages seem to now use that name, NSS may no longer be the optimum choice for these pages too. --Stjen 16:38, 1 April 2007 (EDT)
