[edit] Merger
This page should be merged with Chronology of PlayStation 3 games. See List of Wii games for how it should be done. TJ Spyke 04:15, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
In the List of Wii games it's not possible to list the games in order of first release irregardless of region as is the standard practice in Chronology of PlayStation 3 games. Konangrit 06:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- The only difference I see between Chronology of PlayStation 3 games and List of Wii games is that the earliest dates are bolded. I don't know how you can list the games in order irregardless of region in Chronology of PlayStation 3 games.--Stef Nighthawk 09:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see how this does not already encompass the Chronology of PlayStation 3 games, as you can sort by the date. The only difference is that the Chronology of PlayStation 3 games is pre-sorted by that. It is also seems like twice as much work to keep updating both pages. MrKIA11 23:10, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Merge.--Kozuch (talk) 18:13, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Weak do not merge A decision on this needs to be made. the merge tag was removed off Chronology of PlayStation 3 games a long, long time ago. This article is bloated (>100k), the chronology section should be removed and let them continue with the other article (imo). xenocidic (talk) 16:34, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Weak do not merge Just dump the chronology page altogether. --The Virginian (talk) 16:38, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 720p, 1080i, 1080p
I think it would be hugely helpful to list the resolutions that PS3 games natively output at. Many people will be upgrading to new TV hardware in this next cycle, and such information would really help with that decision. I note that similar PS2 information is here: List of Progressive Scan PS2 Games. --Shannonr 04:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree this would be useful info but then you would also have to add info about support for online-play, mouse/keyboard, microphones (ie. Singstar), buzzers, webcams (eyetoy), etc... (required or optional). --Stef Nighthawk 08:46, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Added a "Picture format" column.--Kozuch (talk) 11:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps instead of that, a column stating whether it supports 1080i? The biggest issue with the PlayStation 3 seems to be that users of HDTVs that do not support 720p but do support 1080i (mainly owners of older HDTVs) are unable to display their games in 1080i either, thus being forced to display in 480p.--Retro083 —Preceding comment was added at 21:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Added a "Picture format" column.--Kozuch (talk) 11:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] games not yet released....
most of the games listed here r not yet out.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.92.177.28 (talk) 12:29, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that is one point of this list. So people can find games that are under devolopment including titles that is out.--Arthur 2045 (talk) 23:51, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Two lists of games.
I think we should have two list of playstation 3 games, one chronologicle an one alphabeticle. Because they both give the hole picture of games in two diferent informical ways. And I want it to be in to seperate lists, if else it going to be a terrible long article in some years. Anyone agree or disagree?
--Arthur 2045 (talk) 15:40, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- see Chronology of PlayStation 3 games. xenocidic (talk) 16:04, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- Who honestly wants a chronological list? who really cares what (for example) the 168th game to be released for the console is? its not needed IMO. the only ones that need mention are first and last, and maybe 100th etc. Now both lists are on one page its pointless and confusing.
- Chocobogamer (talk) 12:01, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Picture format
Added a "Picture format" column. This should help users to gain a quick overview of game's rendering resolution (e.g. 720p, 1080i, 1080p). This is helpful when considering a purchase of a new TV set.--Kozuch (talk) 11:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Star Ocean 4
Star Ocean 4 is in the list as a PS3 exclusive, and although the game itself has been announced its platform let alone exclusivity have not. Even the IGN article which is linked as a reference (IGN: Star Ocean 4) has a note stating "exact system plans have not been released". Therefore I am removing Star Ocean 4 from the list. Fenikkusuzero (talk) 03:22, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry about the mix-up...
I tried to edit the article from my PS3's Internet browser... it was a tiny edit, removing a redundancy, so I was rather complacent, failing to notice the PS3 had deleted 9/10 of the page... I MEANT NO HARM, NO VANDALISM and I am so grateful Cluebot reverted it. Don't hate me. I can't do anything right. :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.203.239.39 (talk) 03:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Don't sweat it - these things happen. Have you considered creating an account? xenocidic (talk) 03:41, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] the two lists - a possible resolution
how about this: using the alphabetical list, somebody adds an extra, sortable, column which can be 'earliest release' (which, as it says on the tin, contains the earliest release worldwide) or something similar, so annyone interested in the chronology can use it, and we only keep the one list, thus avoiding confusion and insane file sizes. if everyone can post their opinion, and if its generally accepted, can someone do it? thanks Chocobogamer (talk) 20:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- other than adding a new column to an already pretty crowded table, i suppose it would work. xenocidic (talk) 23:52, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- thanks for the input :) I realise it would be crowded, but it beats having 2 different tables with the same info, and it wasn't that long ago the table had pointless columns such as picture format and HD mode, so it wont be quite as bad IMO. Chocobogamer (talk) 09:04, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
see this for what I mean :) Chocobogamer (talk) 23:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Metal Gear Online
Why does this article continue to list it as a separate game when the Metal Gear Online Article itself says the folloing:
While the previously released Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops featured optional online game modes that were both dubbed Metal Gear Online, this incarnation of the online game was initially announced as a separate stand-alone product based on the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots gameplay and setting, but has since been announced as part of Metal Gear Solid 4.
--The Virginian (talk) 01:00, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Currently its available to download seperately from MGS4, you could change the listing to Metal Gear Online: Premiere Beta. its still worth mentioning. Chocobogamer (talk) 11:47, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Addition
I added in an extra entry for Folklore just now in the HDD installation section. The game has an option HDD install which is 1058MB in size. Admeister200x (talk) 12:58, 21 May 2008
I just added an entry for Bayonetta, which was announced recently. Admeister200x (talk) 2:48, 26 May 2008
[edit] Split
Should we split the this page into two different ones for example one page should be # - N the 2nd should be O - Z .--Lbrun12415 04:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- No definitely not. that would be silly and would negate navigations. my solution is below Chocobogamer (talk) 23:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] my solution demonstrated
the easiest way to save space and file size would be to cut out the seperate chrono table. I question the need for it at all, but there could easily be a single column in the main table "first release" then the date and flag. this would almost half the file size, its stupid being 2 different tables with the exact same information. this is, imo, the best way to house the information in this article:
Title and Source | Developer | Publisher | Japan | Europe | USA | First Released | Exclus. |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Armored Core 4 [1] | From Software | Sega | Dec 21, 2006 [2] | Jun 22, 2007 [3] | Mar 20, 2007 [4] | Dec 21, 2006 | No |
Having exclusivity at the end too, rather than the random position it currently is. All I can say is that this article needs a helluva lot of work! Also, I'd suggest using shorter date, like shown, too, to save space for the title etc. Also means you don't have to bold the earliest releases on each line What do you think of my idea? be kind. lol Chocobogamer (talk) 23:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] seperate updated game and hd page
PlayStation 3 game updates & install sizes. To help the file size I thought it might be better to have a seperate article detailing hard drive installs and game updates, rather than having them on the list of games page. This is because I feel they may be relevant to be linked to from other articles, such as system software updates (adding DS3 compat), and rather than making someone going to a 110K page, they go to a much smaller page. I have not removed the table detailing the hard drive installs from this page yet, and have only added one game to the updated games list. I didn't want to waste too much time, and I wanted everyone's opinion on having these lists seperate. thanks. Chocobogamer (talk) 22:39, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] deleting the chrono list etc
righty, I have deleted the chronological list from this page. well i say deleted it, i've moved it to archive 2 of the talk page. (i know it can be undone but its so other changes can be done inbetween if it is decided to be restored). i believe that as it is still on a seperate page it is silly having it here also. i have also moved to there the hard drive install sizes, as i have created a seperate article. i didnt want to just delete them so they have been archived :) it is not vandalism, these pages exist seperately. please dont class it as, as it will be a massive amount removed. a seperate chronological list is silly anyway, it should only be alphabetical. if a release is pushed back it means you have to move the row. Chocobogamer (talk) 00:47, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- also just moved the working title games to a seperate page :) Chocobogamer (talk) 00:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
