Talk:List of Pakistanis by net worth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Problem with Reference
This article is sourced from here. It has to be known that;
- 1. The source does not state the exact net worth of each individual. I have no idea where the author of this page got the figures from.
- 2. There is no reference as to who the original author of this list is. The writer in the source stated that:
"I received this list in an email from a friend - tried searching for the original author on Google, but had little luck. While searching though, I found it referenced at a few other places, including a cool blog called Financial Ave". In the blog too there's no mention on the original author. Such being the case this cannot be counted as a reliable source.
This page was also linked to the List of countries by the number of billionaires page, adding the fact that Pakistan has 8 billionaires. I had it deleted as;
- 1. The information from the sources were written in 2005. All the other information in that page is as new as 2007. How can information almost 2½ years old be used when such is supposed to be updated every year?
- 2. It is clearly stated in the first line of the article that the lists of billionaires is compiled annually by the Forbes Magazine. I don't recall seeing a single Pakistani billionaire in the last Forbes Magazine.
- 3. It should also be noted that the list excludes heads of states whose wealth is tied to their position. However Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, who were heads of state (former prime ministers) form part the list.
Anybody who has an argument may contribute their opinions here. S3000 ☎ 17:33, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- it is very latest report, and secondly if Forbes didnt mention any Pakistani in their list, it doesnot mean people are not rich here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.99.177.29 (talk) 20:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

- Before anything, please understand what's a reliable source. Coming to the matter, the link you provided seems like it's;
- Original research, i.e. self published sources; published pseudonymously; and
- Not written by well-known professional researchers writing within their field.
- Before anything, please understand what's a reliable source. Coming to the matter, the link you provided seems like it's;
-
- In fact (If I'm not mistaken) the entire article itself is taken from another blog (Teeth Maestro). Now where did Teeth Maestro source the information from? His assumption? Or another blog? There's no named author.
-
- So how is this considered reliable?

- If what's written is really genuine, there should be no problem producing a better source (e.g. from a leading news website), or at least producing the actual source of the article you provided. Perhaps there'll be more information there on how those figures were arrived at. I hope you get my point. S3000 ☎ 18:20, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
