Routes were numbered by 1929: [3] --NE2 10:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Here we go: 1927. [4] --NE2 11:19, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

According to [5] (an unreliable source), 1-20 were state-maintained and 21-43 were county-maintained, until counties were abolished in 1965. [6] is an updated version of the site, but without that information. Hopefully someone can find a good source for it. --NE2 11:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Old marker

[7] - apparently this sign was only five years old, since the renumbering was in 1965. --NE2 20:46, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
