- I've got a few issues regarding List of NHL players: (letter), but I'll put them in separate sections to facilitate discussion. Schmloof (talk) 19:07, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Block size and format
- I see that some lists by letter have arranged them in blocks of 50. However, I find this unwieldly, as it will have to be constantly updated. After seeing a few pages arranged in a somewhat alphabetical way (such as List of NHL players: G), I went ahead and split many pages into blocks by alphabet, in a way that each block has between 30-50 players (see List of NHL players: R for an example). I find this more intuitive. Also, once a list reaches 60-70 entries, it can be further split along alphabetical lines rather than disrupting the entire list that's set in exact 50 intervals.
[edit] Block names
- Also, I find it counter-intuitive to name blocks by the first and last player in the block (List of NHL players: G). I see three ways to name the blocks (for blocks in which the second letter of each players name is an 'a'):
- Gaborik - Gavin: see List of NHL players: G
- KAA-KAV: see List of NHL players: K
- RA: see List of NHL players: R
- I support the "RA" way myself.
[edit] Statistics
- I find the statistics in some lists (List of NHL players: Z, for example) to be completely unnecessary. This is a list of players, after all, not a database of their stats. I vote we remove them.
[edit] Distinguishing goaltenders
- Also in List of NHL players: Z and a couple of other lists, goaltenders have their own category. I don't think that's necessary, since the format in List of NHL players: A lists position.
[edit] Up-to-date?
- While doing some lists, I've noticed that some fairly important players are missing, such as Marc-Andre Fleury and Sergei Kostitsyn. I've fixed them, but I'm sure there are numerous unaccounted for. How complete is this list, and how are we keeping it up to date?
