Talk:List of Mexican American communities
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- It may be wise to investigate whether the Mexican-American communities listed qualify as "large" or not. I just removed my town of Dubuque, Iowa from the list of Mexican-American communities, because it does not have a significant Mexican-American prescence. The Latino population is at best 2-3%, and most likely around 1% of the city's population. I would highly suspect that many of the other cities in Iowa, and perhaps other states, also have "small" Mexican populations. If the list is displaying ALL Mexican-American communities, then yes, list them all, but if only the large ones are to be shown, then some editing needs to be done. - I agree. I am from Manhattan, Kansas, and I'm not sure that it belongs on this list either. According to demographic numbers, Manhattan's population is 3.5% Latin/Hispanic from any country of origin (let alone specifically Mexican). Nor do Mexicans happen to play a large, outsized role in the community out of proportion to their numbers. Some sort of standards for "largeness" ought to be adopted for this list. For now, I am removing Manhattan. Kgwo1972 17:38, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I just removed Manhattan again (a year later) and added a tag so that this issue can be resolved. -Kgwo1972 (talk) 15:18, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
