[edit] Re: merges

If I have my way, this page will be obsolete soon. Series 3 and 4 are under active construction. I don't think some people realise how long it takes to put up a 24 episode page in your free time. My reason for keeping them on separate pages is that there are still people out there on 28k modems. When that day passes, by all means merge the whole of wikipedia onto one page. Keeping things on different pages is not a MySQL overhead.Bipedia 12:24, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Well, thank the gods for balance in the universe. :) I'm unsure the single article will be, or is, obsolete ... more because, ideally, the episode summaries may eventually have permanent homes in individual articles (which is already the case with some articles/episodes) requiring a singular overview. While I completely relate regarding the article size/modem speed, I envision a structure for LEXX episode content similar to the various Star Trek incarnations; however that's only one way to skin the ... moth.
I've yet to peruse and edit the lists, but will soon. In any event, thanks for all of your hard work pulling everything togther. E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 12:59, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
I had just merged the Season 3 and 4 pages with this list and am currently working on writing the plot of each episode and a summery for it, look Little Blue Planet for my work, I decided to put up atleast one for now and others will soon follow. you did great work Bipedia on the season 3 and 4 pages, and they are still up with the overviews for them just click on the link below the desired season to get to them. If you can, try to do season 1 and 2. for season 1 you can just copy past the plot under the title like you have with season 3 and 4. DivineShadow218 18:09, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
as far as people on slow modems. They can go directly to yhe pages you created Bipedia, but Like other episode list on Wiki, there should atleast be a master list with ALL the episodes. DivineShadow218 02:37, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
I agree to all the mergers. It's clear based on the lack of activity on this page that there is little community support for these pages (this discussion is from almost 7 months ago and the page looks about the same). The best possible move now would be to do something similar to the season 3 and 4 templates (with some of the text scaled back), and then go back later and do indivdual articles if community support arises. Lists for episodes is pretty standard now, and are probably not going to be obsolete anytime soon. I'll fix all the currently taged articles and see what happens in a week or two. I can help out with getting templates up to begin with and then see what happens. Radagast83 07:00, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

I had written lengthy pages for many Lexx episodes, and just discovered they were in the process of being "merged" with this article (in other words, deleted) because... well, I'm not sure why that seemed like a good idea, frankly. I was essentially following the model of the Star Trek pages and other TV episode pages on Wikipedia, and there was a lot of content being lost in this "merge". Obviously, I strongly object to having this stuff dumped. I'm not saying the stuff I wrote couldn't have used improvement, but it was hours of work and it expanded the coverage for a show that still has a devoted cult following.Multiverse 09:26, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

The pages in question surely need a great deal of encylopedic work done on them, if you were in fact following other show's examples. Many shows on Wikipedia don't have their own pages (in fact there have been many debates on whether any show deserves their own articles for individial episodes), especially when it's nearly impossible for them to stand up to encylopedic standards. Most of the articles that I've merged have been barely longer than the plot summary, many of them were the plot summary. I figured that I could either tag every episode article with cleanup and notability tags, but it would be far better to have concise, informative short descriptions of each article, especially since a lot of the text seemed to have crufty elements to them. I guess I'll just have to tag them all. Radagast83 17:41, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
In addition, the lack of activity beyond yourself should be a clear sign that the community can not support creating encylopedic entries for each episode of the series. MOST series don't have individual articles for each show, and many that do are slowly being merged into one central article. I do feel that each individual article needs to be properly cited with verifiable and proper sourcing, because at this point it is impossible to tell what is accurate and what is not. Do whatcha like. I'm out. No more Wikipedia editing for me, I think. I appreciate Wikipedia as a resource, but trying to edit the thing feels like a waste of time. I'm sick of niggly little arguments with strangers. All too often, there's nothing collaborative about it; so many people are hung up on trying to push their version of "the truth". It's amazing that Wikipedia is as useful as it is, given the endless B.S. that goes on backstage. This is hardly the worst I've seen of this stuff, but it's my personal last straw.Multiverse 00:02, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
