The Ministry for Economic Development http://www.med.govt.nz is the responsible oversight authority for all LPFM broadcasters in New Zealand

There is a Society called the

The Low Power FM Broadcasters Incorporated

Last meeting (workshop) was held about 20th April 2006, in Avondale, Community Hall. Next meeting usually second week of month, usually Tuesdays. about 20 members, less than a handful from outside Auckland. Chairman Dave Dingley (spider FM) Treasurer Aaron Skudder Executive Committee - John Greet (K FM), Matt Camp (Twisted FM), Peter Shaw (TLC Radio),

Jamie (Fleet FM), Richard Phelps (retro hits) - Murray Woodfield (Calvary Chapel Radio)

$75 membership fee (free workshops, transmitter knowledge, MED explaining the 25km rule,

third transmitter must be 25km away), website http://www.lpfmnz.com/ (no longer updated).

The society CLAIMS that the Goverment wanted to shut down the LPFM band unless disputed stop. Of course that may well be a self-serving claim to increase the justification for its existance.

However there are examples of previous disputes and or violations:

Indian Apna FM got fined multiple times, increasing fines. No longer exist.

Bay Classics (Browns Bay) was fined for overmodulating. (Broadtech TX?)

107.5 up fm -- three stations had to shift frequencies, dispute was resolved. begining of 2005
