[edit] Campus-based LGBT centers

Should campus-based GLBT centers be included? Voyager640 06:17, 31 May 2004 (UTC)

If they serve the whole conurbation's population, then yes include them in the listing as per that city/town. But if it's intended only to serve the campus (student's and staff), then I suggest it is listed as the University/College. Maybe the Uni centres could be listed at the end of each nation's list. --Myfanwy 21:42, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Further thought - What is meant in the USA by 'campus-based GLBT centre'? To me it conjures up the image of a mini community centre, with social space(s), a meeting room, some staff/volunteers and an office.

In the UK, as far as I know, provision at Universities is patchy (, depends on the local Student body <-> Student union <-> Administration relations). Generally it will consist of a room in the student union building (and operated and funded by the union) which will act as; a) an office for the union's LGB(T) officer(s), or b) a permanently available safe-space for LGBT students, or often both a) and b) as well as a venue for events of the LGB(T) society. The space is then furnished and organised by LGB(T) officer(s) and/or LGB(T) society, as their own wishes. --Myfanwy 23:07, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

  • I think it should be a separate section. - tdempsey 16:35, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
