[edit] Waddle Doo

The way it's phrased is very redundant, I changed it and it got reverted but I think it should have stayed. Here's the part I'm talking about: "Waddle Doo is a fictional character and species from Nintendo's Kirby franchise."

The article is a list of Kirby characters, so he's obviously fictional and from Nintendo. I rephrased this first sentence into the next one, saying: "Waddle Doo is a character and species that looks like a Waddle Dee, but has only one huge eye." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.238.149.150 (talk) 21:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Adeleine

I know this is a rather small section, but still, I play Kirby 64 a lot, and I never thought the painter was a girl. First of all, where did it say that Adeleine is a girl? And, furthermore, how did we figure out the name Adeleine? 24.15.53.225 14:48, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Both the character's name and gender are listed in the manual. Here is proof of it. Disaster KirbyTalk 16:04, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Poppy Bros. Jr. from Kirby Super Star.png

Image:Poppy Bros. Jr. from Kirby Super Star.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Merge from Waddle Dee (discussion)

Waddle Dee was listed for deletion:

There was no consensus to delete, but a substantial proportion of those commenting on the proposal suggested merging it to a suitable target. As closer of the discussion, I propose that we discuss merging it here. --Tony Sidaway 16:05, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Discussion

[edit] Merge

Merging is a ridiculous idea, for very practical reasons. Meta Knight is one of the main playable characters in the upcoming Mega-Hit fighter game Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and his personal ship, the Halberd (sp?) plays an integral role in the game's plot and presentation. You can go ahead and merge his article if you really want to, but sooner or later it will be un-merged, mark my words. Do a little research, and you'll find that every playable character from a Smash Bros. game has a well-visited and detailed wiki page. I guarantee you that the millions upon millions of people who will be playing Smash Bros. Brawl for years to come will ensure that Meta Knight gets his own page, whether you like it or not. So you might as well forget about ever merging this article, it's a pointless endeavor. --Ford4D (talk) 00:23, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

All of the characters without real world information from secondary sources need to be merged. The two main characters here are important to the series, but that does not mean that they need articles. TTN (talk) 23:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Why should Meta Knight's article be completely moved here? I disagree with this notion. He's a large enough character to the series in his own right. Discuss. --Is this fact...? 11:24, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

I just noticed that someone suggested that the DDD article should be merged here, too. I say no, for that would be the same as merging King Bowser's article to Mario's; he's the game's main antagonist, not a side character. I admit that the article does need a major expansion, though. --Is this fact...? 11:28, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
They have no real world information, so they will be merged. The only way to keep them is to add real world information. For some of what you need, see Kirby (Nintendo)#Concept and creation. You will also need reception notes from reviews and the such. TTN (talk) 12:53, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Two things; have any other Wikipedians already consented to this? And secondly, have you tried putting an alternate expand article or add info tag, first? --Is this fact...? 09:59, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
If I get the time I will try to do what you say but I may not get the time to for weeks. --Is this fact...? 10:00, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Lets move them here, or they will probably be deleted as not notable. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 17:28, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
We can't just merge out of fear, what kind of reasoning is that :P. Just look for sources, Dedede is pretty popular in Japan, and he's considered one of Sakurai's favorite creations. And by outside of the game series, I assume the Anime and various small toys based on Dedede are no standby at all. I understand why characters like Ridley were merged, but a character such as Dedede from a series with a TV show and the multiple out of series appearences Dedede has made (more smash appearences than most smash characters...) Plus there are other considerations when merging major articles like this. Will Dedede be too much of a space of the list? I honestly believe Dedede actually have references, we're talking about a major character from a major game series from a very public creator. Balladofwindfishes (talk) 21:31, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Speculation is worthless. It either needs to be shown that sources exist, or it needs to be merged. TTN (talk) 22:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Neither article has any reliable secondary sources to establish notability. The articles do not satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) and should be merged here unless sources are found. Pagrashtak 21:59, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
I gathered and added a huge amount of references for King Dedede, I hope you like it. Blood dripping on the ground 23:21, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
None of those sources indicate notability. I support a merge. I (talk) 00:37, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
What we need to remember is this is not a one time only offer to save the King Dedede article. If at any time it looks like the section about him has improved and expanded to the point where it necessitates its own article, consensus can move it back at any time. We know its possible stuff might be out there, but the point of the matter is that right its notability is in question. At this time I think an article could be a goal or a reality; its too hard to tell (and may I suggest cite web for the references used?).--CM (talk) 15:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
In addition to multiple mediums, the character is to appear in a video game outside the Kirby franchise. This in itself is enought to satisfy notabilty, no to mention, various notes on the character thru magazines such a gamesource, nintendo power, not to mention anime sites about the series. Plenty real world info. Discussion should have concluded, specifically for such a contentious topic prior to the redirect of this character. NO MERGE. - 66.109.248.114 (talk) 01:29, 17 December 2007 (UTC).

Why would anyone want to merge these articles? The Fictional Notability policy is quite possibly the worst policy this site has ever enacted. Wikipedia isn't paper, so little unimportant articles like this can exist without harming the whole. This place is on the road to becoming the poor man's Britanica, and I mean that in the worst possible way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.29.155.43 (talk) 03:18, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

I definetly agree with Ford4D. Meta Knight is "Kirby's Rival", as said on the Super Smash Bros. website on his page. Any rival of Kirby's that is ALSO in Super Smash Bros. Brawl deserves to have his own page. Bowser has his own page. Ganondorf has his own page. Even King DeDeDe has...or had...his own page! That has to be proof! He even has a major role in the anime of Kirby. If that's not proof, I don't know what is. (Oh, and sorry for the bulging letters 2 sentences after the first sentence in my little message.)

I am terribly sorry for writing this original comment. I thought that since the highlited words above this page were used, I could use such, too. If I knew this would get me in trouble with Wikipedia, I would have never done it. Dedede should be here while the discussion is still in place. The images on the article risk deletion. --Is this fact...? 11:42, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Please do not remove these articles until a consensus has been made to do so. First let me say that I have not written any of these articles. You probably haven't either, though some of you certainly have in some part. I haven't kept count but I see many people on both sides of the merger discussion. Someone said that there is no reason not to keep the articles, because we aren't really limited by space. Time and effort was put into these articles and that should not be wasted, but welcomed and appreciated. As far as the notability of King Dedede and Meta Knight, they are sort of Kirby's Bowser and Wario. Similar comparisons could be made to Doctor Robotnik and Knuckles the Echidna, and Doctor Wily and Proto Man (who becomes Zero in later games). I have added this discussion to the list of Proposed Mergers, and the two character pages to the Nintendo projects pages that need work with a request for more "real world" information, as someone had stated they were lacking. If anyone is in support of keeping these articles, then Wikipedia:Be Bold and find some info on the characters creators and the role they play, information that would make sense to someone who never played any of the games. As far as other characters less notable, they should not be deleted, but discussed after these more important ones are decided upon. Again I ask that you do not remove the relevant articles unless that is what is agreed upon. Now I need to go to bed. Quickmythril (talk) 14:33, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Please do not restore these articles until a consensus has been reached to do so. --Jack Merridew 14:52, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
I felt that the page existed initially and someone blanked and merged without any agreement. Does anyone else agree that until discussion is over the pages with their unique content should remain. That's why we have merge templates to put on pages that exist. There would be no point in saying "this blank page that we have already merged, is nominated for merge." I also wanted to mention that I read the Wiki policies & guidelines are just that, guides. We sort of have to make the rules up as we go while remaining as fair as we can. I think the suggestions I have made are fair and would be in support of merging if someone could give me a good outline of why it should be done. Quickmythril (talk) 02:20, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
FFS, the Meta Knight article was ace, what have you done?!

Meta Knight and King Dedede both deserve articles not just because of their game apperances but also the anime. Not only that but else where in Wikipedia some one time squid monster from a Godzilla movie which does not even so much as cameo Godzilla has a long detailed article about how obscure he is. If something this irralevent deserves an article then why not King Dedede and Meta Knight who are easily far more recognizable then a rubber suited monster from however many years ago. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.76.133.145 (talk) 04:00, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] where did all the charecters go?

why does every list of charecters in kirby link here then half the charecters are missing!? wheres chilly, ice dragon, that fire breathing monster? shouldn't some one fix this?80.42.8.64 (talk) 10:49, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] no!

meta knight and king dedede are major kirby characters. And most the characters are missing from the list of kirby characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smashboy Champ (talkcontribs) 19:39, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Adeleine

She is also been confirmed to be an Assist Trophy in the upcoming March title, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Where was this confirmed? BassxForte (talk) 01:29, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Meta Knight

Meta Knight was merged without discussion to this page. I discourage such a merge to take place, as the previous discussion ended with no consensus. A recent AfD also resulted in an no consensus, noted to be initiated due to previous merge discussions ending in no consensus. I encourage that following the page protection the two be split. I encourage other editors, who have contributed to the previous AfD and merge discussions and provided additional sources and the support to reinvest that in the Meta Knight page. Split and no merge. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 03:38, 31 January 2008 (UTC).

I fully agree. I see no reason why these major well written character articles should be merged and they should be restored. (Djungelurban (talk) 16:37, 31 January 2008 (UTC))
At the moment the page for Meta Knight has been protected, after TTN and Sesshomaru reverted it back to the redirect several times without justification or explanation, against clear consensus. DGG (talk) 16:50, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
It's been unprotected now. I am not immediately going to move it back; I think the consensus should be restablished first. DGG (talk) 02:42, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Who keeps merging this article anyway? As far as I can tell, he meets the notability standards, has sufficient info for his own page, and it'd be way more convenient if he had his own page. I vote we unmerge.--Phantom Kirby (talk) 00:12, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Here is the history of the Meta Knight page you can see who did what with the page. I did try and save it a bit when an AfD was proposed by adding a few sources that dealt with real world information but it didn't seemed to have helped. --Sin Harvest (talk) 04:22, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
There would appear to be overwhelming consensus to split the page and reestablish the Meta Knight page. Agreed? -66.109.248.114 (talk) 23:33, 4 February 2008 (UTC).
Consensus is not based upon numbers. It is based in arguments that are based in policies and guidelines. If you want to find information like the information in Kirby (Nintendo)#Concept and creation, that's one thing. Otherwise, you have nothing. If we need numbers, I'm sure the video game project will help provide them (not one active user there would agree with this as long as it does not have real world information). TTN (talk) 01:10, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Exceptions are a basis to these discussions, that is why discussion is still relevant in these issues, and pages are not simply patrolled by bots. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 22:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC).
Additional notes, consensus changes, and these discussions are utilized to re-examine and re-evaluate discussion. There is currently discussion that this page is tied to regarding such merges here which I encourage other editors to be aware of. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 06:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC).
