Do they look the same? DO THEY?
For the record, it is a MAC-10. In fact, I checked the film to confirm it. Check shots during the hovercraft chase. It is a MAC-10. Not a TMP, I know what a TMP looks like, that's not what Bond uses in that scene. -TonicBH 06:08, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- I concur. I just watched the sequence. It looks like a MAC-10 without the part on the end. Admittingly, Bond does use a TMP in The World Is Not Enough during the sequence at Valentin's caviar facility. He picks one up, but never uses it - in the next moment he's got his P99 back out. All right. I admit it - I was wrong (there wasn't that big of me). For what it's worth I've added a publicty shot of the disputed weapon. The muzzle seems to be the giveaway, at least at a distance. It's unusual for Bond to use such an old (70s) gun when he was being sold more modern weapons by Moon. Anyway...
While we're talking, I created this page a long, long time ago, and I'm very grateful to all the people who have helped improve it. But what happened to several hundred words of text I had - more stories about Major Boothroyd and the origins of James Bond's Luger. These stories might have been of interest to Bond fan's. So why were they removed without even a word of warning? Just asking. Scott197827 12th November 2005.

[edit] Possible corrections
- A couple of points: Are we certain that Bond's Beretta 6.35mm is in fact a 950 Jetfire? It is more likely to be the earlier Beretta 418 given the claim of Bond's carriage of the pistol during WW2. The Beretta 950 was not available until 1950.
- The pistol in "Licence Renewed" is more likely to be a FN M1903, chambered in 9mm Browning Long (9x20mmSR). 9mm Browning Long is specifically mentioned. In fact, the M1903 is clearly the pistol illustrated in Richard Chopping's cover art for the UK 1st edition hardback.
- The SMG used by Bond in the opening squence of "Never Say Never Again" is clearly a Czech model, either the CZ sa.23, 24, 25, or 26 model. (The differences are in caliber and buttstock configuration.) --D.E. Watters 00:30, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure about the 950 Jetfire. I think I recall Boothroyd (the real one referenced in this article) calling it a "Beretta 22," but I'll have to double check. Make whatever corrections you see fit, especially for the novels. Unfortunately firearms aren't really my forte and thus all I really know is the PPK, P99 and a few similar/related firearms such as the Walther P22. K1Bond007 01:38, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

- The 6.35mm Browning cartridge is also known as the .25 ACP...simply different names for the same thing. I definitely remember one or the other being mentioned for Bond's Beretta --D.E. Watters 02:13, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- The Beretta is called a .25 in the books. Raymond Benson in his book “The James Bond Bedside Companion” (bloody good but sadly out of print) says it was probably a Jetfire and includes a photograph of one. Since Ian Fleming didn't elaborate further, and since Benson as a continuation-Bond novelist has a certain right to add to the Bond universe, we'll call it a Jetfire or a Beretta .25. After all, Bond is only a fictional character. Incidently, this article was very much “inspired” by the list of weapons James Bond has used featured in Benson's “Companion”. I simply limited it to firearms so as not to duplicate other Wikipedia lists. Scott197827 22/1/2005

[edit] Only Bond?
Currently the 'Official films' section contains a number of weapons not used by Bond: I don't recall him personally using a laser in Moonraker, and there's others in You Only Live Twice [the gyrojet guns], The Man with the Golden Gun [the Golden Gun] and License to Kill ['M-16 seen briefly being used by DEA soldiers']. I think Moon's use of the OICW, given that he pauses for a moment to talk about it, merits being mentioned if these are to remain. Hrimfaxi 07:33, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- I haven't gone through the list in a long while, but I feel this sets a bad precedent. At the very least this article needs to define itself better. Right now it says "The following is a list of firearms used by James Bond in the novel and film adventures." K1Bond007 07:54, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps a list of firearms 'given attention in scenes' in those films? That'd eliminate the need to name every single gun used, while still including 'special' weapons like the Moonraker Laser and Golden Gun. Hrimfaxi 08:52, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps an annexe page or section for weapons 'also featured'? Salvianus 22:27, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minor clarification?
In paragraph 2, wouldn't the Berns-Martin holster decrease rather than 'increase Bond's draw time', i.e. make it quicker rather than slower? Alternatively, 'increase Bond's draw speed'. Salvianus 22:34, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Redhawk or Blackhawk?
It says in the thing for Licence Renewed that it was a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Magnum, but on the actual Licence Renewed page it says it's a Ruger Super BLACKHAWK in the same caliber. Which is it? Does anyone know? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.32.22.177 (talk) 04:50, 5 January 2007 (UTC).
Okay, the book was published in 1981, Ruger didn't make the Super Redhawk until '87. Gotta be the Blackhawk.
[edit] Guns in games?
Perhaps something should be mentioned or listed about the guns featured in the James Bond video games. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wi Account ki (talk • contribs) 23:25, 27 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:P99-9x19mm.JPG
Image:P99-9x19mm.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Video games
Shouldn't there be a section for the video game weapons too? Emperor001 (talk) 21:19, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Just added a video game section. Emperor001 (talk) 17:23, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
