[edit] Scindia Kingdom was NOT Backward Caste

Scindia Kingdom wasnt backward caste. Shinde are Kshatriyas and belong to one of the 96 royal clan of Marathas. The Shindes you're mentioning are different from the Shindes of Scindia Kingdom. For instance, Sushil Kumar Shinde is from a backward caste, but some other Shindes are Marathas. Remember, in Maharashtra, often backward caste people inc. Dalits share same surnames with forward caste people. It doesn't mean all of them belong to either group. The Shindes of Gwalior were from an upper-caste Kshatriya Maratha and as such, they do not belong here. --NRS | T/M\B 17:14, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
