Talk:List of IT Service Management vendors

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi. I work for the ITSM vendor, Touchpaper and have been trying for some time to add them to this list. However, my page keeps getting deleted for the reason of advertising even though the information included is the same included by other vendors. I feel Touchpaper should be on the list as we are also Pink Verified for 6 processes and are in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. Is everyone happy for me to add a page? Hi all. I am interested in seeing a fair list of ITSM vendors here, since I work for one (who is not currently on the list), but it appears there is a lot of spam on the page.

One solution might be to source analysts or other external references who could define the players in the market. The Canadian ITIL consultancy Pink Elephant maintains a list of software companies that produce software that has been "verified" in a set of ITIL practices. Also, analysts like Gartner and Forrester produce reports ranking vendors in the space.

Perhaps going to such a system would be helpful here. Without appealing to external authority, though, I don't see how a list that respects NPOV can be assembled. - Tjarrett 17:32, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Maybe the most appropriate thing to do would be to refer to those documents (when public, probably as (a subset of) external links in the ITSM page) and delete this one page? - Aresando 15:11, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I think that might be a good idea. I'll go ahead and add one that I had in mind and see if it flies with the crowd. Tjarrett 17:19, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I think it's a good idea, though I am biased because the company that I work for is Pink Certified. - Ta bu shi da yu 06:28, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't know about bias. There are a number of external agencies that produce research about the space. I think the best thing to do will be to link to all the available research and let people draw their own conclusions. I have the same concerns about bias as I also work for a Pink Certified firm, but I think that adding links to valid external references is well within the pale. Tjarrett 14:25, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Infra Corporation

Full disclosure: I work for Infra. However, I have added them to this list as the article was recently created, and they are notable for a number of reasons - one of which is that they are on the PinkVerify list. - Ta bu shi da yu 09:12, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External sources

I would like to suggest that an editor bring this list to consistency with external sources that rank and validate IT Service Management software. The two sources I would suggest are the Pink Verify toolset list (https://www.pinkelephant.com/en-US/ResourceCenter/PinkVerify/PinkVerifyToolset.htm) and the Gartner Magic Quadrant for IT Services Desk, available from various sources, including iET Solutions (http://www.iet-solutions.com/). The Gartner list includes some vendors who are on this list (BMC, CA, HP, Infra, FrontRange, Oracle) and several who are not (Axios, TouchPaper, iET Solutions). I would like to propose that at a minimum the latter three vendors be added to the list. Disclosure: I work for iET Solutions. Tjarrett 16:22, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Also Infra. Isn't that magic quadrant stuff confidential though? - Ta bu shi da yu 00:12, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Service-now.com needs to be added to the list. They will be in the Magic Quadrant in the next report and have numerous Fortune 100 Clients. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.9.224.147 (talk) 16:03, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. When it gets on the quadrant, let us know. - Tbsdy lives (talk) 09:33, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

I work for Touchpaper Software plc and would like to add us to this list of vendors. We are in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and our software is also Pink Verified. I am currently unable to edit this page and when I have tried, in the past, my additions have been removed. Do I need to obtain permission for my submission?Sarahannlewis (talk) 21:18, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

It's best to stay away from the article and post comments to get the content updated. - Tbsdy lives (talk) 09:33, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
