- This is not true, according to the articles on transliteration and transcription, which state that transcription refers to converting sound to text. Picking a kanji for a sound is transcription, but I think whether you're dealing with kanji or hiragana, what you're doing to Japanese text is still transliteration. Does the list describe the ISO standards used in modern Italy? Are the ISO standards used across all Romance languages uniformly? "Romanization" refers to Ancient Rome, but the ISO to modern Latin? Does "romanization" mean transliteration into modern Latin alphabet or any latinised alphabet?--mrg3105 (comms) If you're not taking any flak, you're not over the target. 03:11, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
