Talk:List of Huguenots

[edit] Doss Tom Brokaw qualify for this list?

Tom Brokaw was born in Webster, South Dakota to Anthony Orville Brokaw and Jean Conley; he was the eldest of their three sons. He was named after his maternal great-grandfather, Thomas Conley. His father was of Huguenot descent, and his mother was Irish. His paternal great-grandfather, Richard P. Brokaw, founded the town of Bristol, South Dakota and the Brokaw House, a small hotel and the first structure in Bristol. User:McTrixie September 4 2007

[edit] Alphabetized Listing

When sorted by last names, should not the "de", "du", "des", etc be ignored, thus listing 'du Toit' under T, rather than under D. Maybe I'll just fix it myself... --Mr Minchin Canada 17:55, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edit list and restrict names added

It seems absolutely ridiculous to create a list with any individual who can claim Huguenot ancestry. What possible benefit is derived from having a list that includes Warren Buffet, Jon Pertwee, Al Gore, Charlize Theron, Eddie Izzard, and Winston Churchill, to name just a few, with Jean Calvin himself? Literally tens of millions of people can find a Huguenot ancestor somewhere in their family tree. (Wikipedia once had a similarly ridiculous "List of French Catholics" that was deleted.)

This list might have some value if the people named on it were restricted to those who were Huguenots themselves, and possibly their first generation progeny. Otherwise, it should be deleted from Wikipedia. Comments please! Charvex (talk) 00:16, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. --Flex (talk/contribs) 15:36, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
